@Clare ..It's hard trying to find decent webbing in the UK. Lots is advertised as Nylon, when it's polypropylene. You can often tell by its appearance though, Nylon has less sheen and looks more textured.
Pro-Fabrics carry proper Nylon ( that's what I've used for years).
It's about the buckles too, some bite harder than others. Some buckles have their teeth wear out fast. ITW's world range have a very convoluted path and bite hard. I like them, very strong and compact.
In order of webbing grip;
Nylon
Polyester
Polypropylene.

@Clare ...Your buckles look like National Mouldings?
I'm not at home, but just checked my favourite pack (that I have with me). It's using Polyester webbing with an easier to adjust National mouldings ladderlock on the y-strap. I remember not being happy with them on the shoulder straps and used ITW worlds. These bite hard on the Polyester and I think I prefer these straps to Nylon. They feel silkier, but without the cheap feeling of PP.
Is their a way you can back thread the buckle? Can you slip another Triglide in their to lock it? Might save some work for you.

The picture is a prototype made of silnylon so I have to start again anyway. It worked out fine so I’ve just ordered my cuben. The ladder locks I used are very long and bulky (from adventure xpert I think) not sure of brand. I’d prefer something shorter and neater as x4 of them will go on the hip belt. So I’ll be looking at itw buckles and polyester Webbing. Profabric describe it as rough finish, which sounds ideal.

Profabric says nylon stretches when wet and won’t hold tension, so I already ordered the polyester. Although pretty unlikely to get wet while facing my back admittedly. Ordered various ladderlocks but not Itw in the end as I want 20mm and their good ones are 25mm. Only those thin miserly ones come in 20mm.

You do. I prune it heavily to stop it going mad. And now there are some self seeded Rosa Glauca on the other side of the path that will soon rise up to meet it.
