You're a myriad of contradictions
@gixer....
Pahhhhhhhhhh as stated in the ye ole book of stingyness *"for whom once spendeth money from thy chickens sales will'eth not thy be judged if thee buys devices of light"
*Might of made that up
And this is why I tried to pick one quote to put in here but there was just too much to choose from.
Oddly it's still not sold
I really regret selling one of these back in the 90's;
This bike was
the Gamechanger for downhill racing. Mine was one of only 2 white one ever bought over to the Uk, had the first generation Hope disc brakes, prototype Tioga chainset, the first Rock Shox Judi's, Prototype Risse shock and loads of other bling. It was Justin Loretz's (MBUK editor) before me and I've got pics of it with all the top riders of the day and on the front cover of multiple magazines.
Sure i remember i review of that back in the day, if i remember right Jason McRoy rode it.
Difficult to interpret tone and intonation on forums, hopefully most know me so know i'm not being "judgegy" but what i've found really helps me is to only spend a fraction of what i earn on hobbies.
I used to restrict myself to 1/10th, so if i spent £100 on hobbies or gadgets i make sure i save or invest £1000.
Now days i don't put a figure on it, i've found i've swung the other way, i care more about having some financial security in my future than any hobby or gadget, but i used to be an absolute nightmare with money, the 1/10th rule really helped me out.
I recon once you get over 45 your mentality changes as well, i'd sooner have a lower paying job with more free time, than have a higher paid job and be stressed to ****** all the time.
Our TV was on the blink earlier in the year, i researched and found a good TV to replace it with, got the cash out of the bank, went to the store, got all excited when i saw the huge curved screen, started walking to the check out then thought about how much i spent on our old TV and how much it'd be worth now if i sold (nothing
)
Ended up walking out the store without the TV, had a go at fixing ours, found a dry joint on one of the power supply boards, dab of solder and it's been great since.
I recon if i'd have told the 25 year old me i'd have done that i'd have ****ted the future me in the face
As i say i'm not being judgegy, we're all adults here and make our own choices and it's no ones business what we do with our own hard earned, but i found getting some help with financial planning changed my mindset.
All the useless crap they teach at school, yet one of the most fundamental skills of adult life isn't taught, managing our finances.
Cheers
Mark
