Nice packs, but I can't understand the hype.KS is far better value for money . And Atom seems to be another big thing.

I looked at KS and if you just want a standard pack the prices are fine but the moment you start adding extras the price climbs rapidly.
Factor in the import costs and soon it's far beyond the cost of an atom

Me too; the reviews I have seen of the Atom seems to suggest the quality of finishing is a tad......the stitching? But I may be misremembering...

Just to make sure I haven't lost the plot, I just priced up a KS50 to the same spec I am getting from tom and it comes out around £265. Add on vat an clearance charges and that's £320. Almost £100 extra

Plus, if I ever have a problem I will go and bang on his shed door and ask him nicely to fix it :)

Yesterday he said he had to finish what I think was @Foxster pack, then I think it's you, then me. Perhaps one other
I am now delaying a bit as I want him to incorporate some bits that I have posted down to him.
Yup, James. Tom was working on mine from Monday and I'll hopefully see it this week.

Really looking forward to seeing my replacement pack as Tom promised he's made a few improvements since my early one was made.

@JKM : I wasn´t talking about Atompacks.Sorry if I didn´t make myself clear.I think Pa'lante is too expensive, doesn´t show too much innovation (although I must confess I don´t know them in detail) and live from the "fame" of its designer. If I would have to choose a really puristic pack design my first choice would be either Hyberg (pricing unbeatable if it fits) or Gram-xperts.

Just ran into Andy on the trail in the Wind River Range. Super cool guy. We spent some time checking out his pack...love the DCF mesh pocket and the map pocket on the bottom, as well as the hook closure vs buckle. Not the pack for me (need a hip belt) but really nice. Very cool to run into such a hiking legend on the trail though...I didn't know who he was until the guys I was with got all gushy and introduced themselved...lol.

Would have been nice to meet him, however I'm envious of you being in the Winds. Its on my need to see if possible list. :)

John Z did a q&a on insta the other morning (Sat at about 4am) saying they’ll be going full time with Pa’lante soon and stepping things up a bit.

Mentioned Pa’lante will be coming out with more products soon as well as their packs (shorts, fleece tops, fleece neck gaitory thing mentioned as possibilities) :)
