A couple quick updates:
1) I finally got a website up: DurstonGear.com

2) Anyone interested in the 2P can sign up for a email notification when it launches. I've created a sign up list at the link below and then in a couple months you'll get an email with all the info when it launches. That'll just be a one time email - you're not signing up for an on-going barrage:
DurstonGear.com/product/x-mid-2p

3) There's also a mailing list sign up at the bottom of the website that is for gear news more generally. That won't be a weekly newsletter or anything - I don't have the time to bother with that - it's just an email when something big is happening like a new product or major update. I foresee about 4 emails in 2019 as that's how many big projects are on the go.

4) Massdrop is going to sell the final 300 X-Mid's available for this upcoming summer starting next week (Tues or Wed I'm told). Those will take 2-3 weeks to sell out and then that'll be it for tents available for the upcoming season. Those should have a June ship date. Massdrop might have some more in the fall, but not really in time for use this summer.

Drop opens Friday for 300 more with a delivery date of late May.

I find this quite annoying as I ordered one in September and have a delivery date of late May.... i was under the impression they were made to order so was happy to give my money and wait 8 months . Now you can pretty much get one in 6 weeks . Kind of sucks if I'm honest.
:arghh:

That said I'll probably still order a two person version because I have no scruples
:o o:

No doubt @dandurston can give you more information, but I believe they are made to order but they're making more than were ordered in the drop and are opening the extra for sale this week.
If you hadn't ordered in September you wouldn't have been guaranteed that you would get one and if very few people had ordered in September maybe none would have been produced and almost certainly a 2-person version wouldn't be in the works :)

These are wise words.

There is nothing in the world not improved by a bacon sandwich with brown sauce.

Don’t get me started on that red ketchup nonsense.:cautious:

If you fry tomatoes with the bacon it makes a lovely sticky mess. and then cover it with brown sauce of course.

I responded on this topic over on Massdrop at great length, but to briefly respond here for the benefit of others, these extra 300 are a separate shipment arriving after the first batch (as far as I am aware), so I don't think they'll ship at the same time. They may end up with a similar estimated ship date (late May), but that is a more of an indicator that previously ordered tents are ahead of schedule since they are in another shipment arriving first. I don't have detailed insight into where things are tracking with production and delivery, but Massdrop announced recently that tents are on schedule to start shipping on schedule in mid April for folks in the first drop (July) and previously they told me the rest of the tents from that drop wouldn't be far behind, so a late April/early May ship date for folks in the Sept/Dec drop looks likely.

Once these 300 are sold (which will take 2-7 days likely) then there won't be any more for a while. I think Massdrop has a small batch coming in the fall (e.g. 300 - 500) but otherwise nothing is in the works at present. The plan is to wait until these spring 2019 tents are delivered and folks have a few months to use them and comment, and then hopefully get the wheels turning in late summer on larger production run for spring 2020 which incorporates all the feedback.

A final heads up: There are only about 45 tents left (255 sold thus far today) so that'll sell out pretty soon - likely in the next 12 hours or so.

Yeah it looks like Massdrop sold 285 to keep a few back for testing, warranty etc. Anyone that was hoping to get one but missed today is in for a long wait now. I think the next batch - which is also small - is due around September.

Thanks for the support everyone. I'm looking forward to reading the first impressions/reviews starting in just a few weeks.
