3FUL Carbon Pegs edited Inc Alloy Pegs

I received these Carbon pegs in error as I ordered the Alloy version but the seller has been good enough to ship the ones I ordered and let me keep these.

I don't have much experience with carbon pegs other than some small pins from Barebones, some other pin type things from Wild Sky (See below) and some Ruta Sorex which I think someone on the forum nows has :)

They cost £24.69 shipped inc VAT and arrived 9 days after ordering from the link below.

Each peg weighs 7g which includes the cord. The top of the peg is drilled and the caps appear to be glued in place as well as secondarily secured by the cord and the overall finish looks good.

In between showers I have pitched my SL3 using them. My garden is weird, some areas are soft as icecream and other rocky under the surface which meant I had to persuade two by means of hitting with a rock. They held well and were super sticky to remove from the soft wet area of the garden.

I cant really give much more information than that. I will probably carry them with the Tramplte, save a few extra grams over carrying gold Eastons for a while (whenever we are allowed out).

Once the alloy ones I ordered arrive I’ll probably update this post to include them as they sound (on paper) similar to Eastons.

Edit: The alloy pegs have arrived. They are nicely constructed with similar drilled caps where the cord runs through the cap and main shaft of the peg.

The alloy pegs are slightly slimmer than the carbon.

Circumference of alloy pegs is 22mm, carbon 25mm and for comparison an Easton is 28mm.

I personally prefer the carbon nails, i dont normally like carbon pegs but these are solid and built very well.

The alloy nails are nice but when you take into account the price, shipping ect buying Eastons from
Valley and Peak is cheaper and faster.

Wild Sky Carbon Pins - I bought these basically to hold inners or a bivy in place when I am using one that I cannot attach to the fly. For a laugh, I attempted to pitch the Duomid with these and it was a laugh. As soon as the pole was placed and I started to zip the door they pulled out :p
I will likely half them and use them as I intended to :)

Think it was me got your Sorex - Thanks :). It looks like Ruta Locura don't do them anymore.
The ones you have (top pic.) look very similar.
My experience is the Sorex are great in soft ground. Don't try bending carbon fiber around rocks .......
Hard rocky ground - I carry a few Ti pins in case.

They look very much like the Sorex, but with nicer caps. I've started to switch out the 8" Eastons for the 9" Sorex on my Tramplite - they work well. I still keep some Eastons for the key pegging points as the Tramplite really does take some tension, but I'm sure my cautiousness about the Sorex snapping is completely unfounded!
@cathyjc good news I hope, it looks like the Sorex are still available (still on the website and I ordered some recently) - they are actually around the same price as the 3F UL versions.

You are correct - the Sorex are still available - I obviously wasn't looking carefully enough when I was on the site last week
