Just come across this and thought it may be of some use for Android users :)

With this APP, you don't have to take out your pen and make a list for your outings. All you have to do is to save your list on your cell phone, and you can do the following:
    - Create different hiking trips, for example, Neng-Kao path, Jia-Ming Lake.
    - Save frequently used equipment into templates for future use.
    - A reminder will be created automatically from the unchecked items. This is great!
    - Automatically calculate the total weight of your backpack.
    - Edit detailed descriptions and pictures of your equipments.
    - Share your lists by email.
    - Personalize your lists with colors.

Looks useful although I've not opened any of the links, (don't have android so not much point)

Would you have to enter all your own data at first? I think that would have me smashing my phone to bits out of frustration every time I typed the wrong letter :)

Not sure bud, not tried it yet. Hopefully you can import sheets or xml etc. Will get back.

That's because you have an iPhone bud? Keyboards on Android are much better for many reasons ;)

Seems there is no import feature.

The developer has a thread on OM. Seems quite responsive to feedback.

(Not my thing, as my lists/weights are in my head! o_O Tried in the past to do the odd gear list on XL but find I never use them - just end up doing what I've done all my life - take what I think I'll need from the gear in hand and hope I don't forget something crucial! )

Me too. Check the weather forecast, collect the gear I think will be right. The lists in my brain are far more flexible than those written down. If I forget something then it's -make do/ingenuity. The one place I always write a list is for food - makes me check the cupboards, before I hit the shops.

I use Excel too - tried Geargrams and Lighterpack and so on, but they don't offer the flexibility of my spreadsheets - unless you want to share gear lists, then they are probably worth spending the time on.

I use google docs, just like excel but easier to access and share :)

I'll be interested to see how Windows and Android work together, I imagine it'll be a bit clunky and buggy intially

Customisable (re-nameable) categories would be great, together with the ability to add more?
