Anything better than UL 3F Lanshan? (Trekking pole + bug net + fly)

Please help me find what I am looking for!

I want a trekking pole supported tent. It must have a bug net with bathtub floor that can be pitched independently from the fly.

It looks like the UL 3F LanShan fits the bill but is there anything better? I would like a fairly spacious one man set up, so would happily consider a 2 man version.

I've seen the Six Moons Design Deschutes + Serenity which combined weigh around 670g without pegs, which looks great but very expensive. Anything else for me to consider?

If the SMD deschutes is too expensive i dont think its worth recommending many other options, as most i can think of would be quite a bit more expensive than that.
The Lanshan is a great tent for the money, plenty of favorable reviews.

To @tallest of pauls suggestion, I would add that you can buy the Hexpeak V4A without the inner, and buy a 3F UL inner (either solid or mesh; I bought both) which will fit inside. This will save you about £40 but, more importantly, 240g in weight. It's my go-to setup and I'm very pleased with it.

Not sure why the weight is so high. On a Chinese website it appears to include pegs and pole when stating the weight.
That version is a relatively heavy polyester fabric ( like you get on "normal" cheap tents) rather than a light Silnylon/Pu hybrid like the Lanshan uses.

I'm 6' and a back sleeper. I got inside a Lanshan 1 recently. With a 2"+ airmat, I'd say it was too short for my tastes.
If you use a thinner mat, are shorter or a side sleeper, it would be long enough.
Build quality looked good.

Someone I follow on Instagram has used a Lanshan 2 regularly on Dartmoor this year. He is 6'3" and says there is plenty of room. Think he had a Vango banshee before. Maybe he sleeps diagonally.

If I had to buy a more budget shelter, I'd go with the Luxe HexPeak V4. And a mesh 3f inner. Most solid, windworthy option of the shelters discussed IMO.

Thanks for you input. It's the Deschutes and the Serenity together which seemed quite expensive at £320. But, that's not exactly out of my budget, I was really comparing it to the LanShan.

Thanks Mole. The HexPeak v4 looks good. Is this the 3F mesh inner that you are referring to? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Sum...ity-mesh-1-person-inner-tent/32473563124.html

Thanks dovidola, that certainly looks like a good option. Do you know the actual weight of the Hexpeak and mesh together?

Yes. The Hexpeak V4A weighs 660g and the 3F UL inner weighs 360g, giving a total of 1020g.

This does not include pegs (minimum 6), pole (not applicable if you use trekking poles), bag, and any extra guys you choose to add.

As @Mole observes, this is a very weatherproof tent. It's also very spacious for a one-person tent. In fact, there is a (stupidly heavy at 890g!) two-person inner available from the manufacturer.

If you decide to go with this option, you might want to get back in touch as there are some simple modifications which you can make to optimise the tent's performance. Also, don't make the same mistake as me and use it for the first time on a rain/windswept mountainside. Unless you're a tarp expert or suchlike, it pays to practice setup in more benign surroundings first!

That's not the inner I've got. It's heavier, doesn't looks as good, and costs less.
You are right. There is a silnylon floor version too. Which is 370g . Its 80cm wide. I modified mine to be Tzip.

The T zip inners were just 2 batches instigated by @el manana from here. Maybe they'll make more.

Let's hope so. Didn't realise I was in possession of a collector's item!

I've just seen this aliexpress tent. Has anyone got any experience of it?

If you like the tent in the pic, Trekkertent do a model called the Stealth, which is better as it has more room and the bottom end. UK based cottage manufacturer.

I have a bug nest in that shape - which is fine to sleep in, and I have in the past configured an Alpkit rig7 tarp as a flysheet to create that type of tent set up.

The T zip inners with corner struts were 'probably' going to be a one off. They're a bit smaller than the J zip versions (e.g. 70cm wide). I didnt have input into the dimensions, Pedestrian had a request from elsewhere for a slightly smaller inner and this was amalgamated with the T door/Corner struts request to sort of kill 2 birds with one stone.
That's really interesting. Possibly explains why my solid inner (bought first) is a bit bigger than the mesh inner (bought later). I thought it was my imagination but I got out the measuring tape and there is about 2cm difference.

If it was my choice, i would have the T zip corner strut inner with the bigger dimensions of the j zip version. Theres no real space/size difference between the two (i have both)

Mine are so different that I've had to make different length hanging loops for each!

Ditto. I got the J zip first and T zip later. I've used them both in the Howff and have had to attatch hanging loops in quite different places for each.
