I'm too nice
If hes got Twitter and Facebook hit those. It appears (to me) as though he may be pushing his own capability boundaries with your order. Perhaps he doesn't want to admit that he cannot do it?
Thats a possibilty Widu. He trailed the trapezoidal baffles down quilts as coming soon iirc but they havent made the website.
Too nice for your own good for sure. Id have created a social media storm already
Thats what I thought, I assumed he was making you one of his synthetic quilts, didn't realise it was a down quilt. Probably found its beyond his current capabilities and done what often seems to be the case these days; sticks his head in the sand and hopes you will go away.
As I said, I've tried every available avenue including Twitter and getting a friend to do a Facebook message (I'm not on FB). The lack of a reply over the past two months is puzzling. The last communication was that he had made the quilt and was about to put the down in. Since then, nothing.
It wouldn't be the first down quilt he's made http://sdbwanderings.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/as-tucas-custom-down-quilt-first-look.html
But I would guess it must have something to do with it, as if you had ordered a beanie, we would not be having this thread.
Maybe, but why the silence?
Because he then has to admit he can't do it ?
But if he refunds the money and says he can't do it to the sort of standard expected of him ???
I'd settle for that.
Exactly. I'm a reasonable chap. I've cut him loads of slack in the past. I've also been very positive about his products publicly in the past. The thing that annoys me the most is being blanked. If there's a problem of any sort, why not let me know?
TBH I didn't want to say anything on social media, but I was getting to the end of my tether and wanted to know whether others had been in contact. Hey, ho! All part of life's rich tapestry.
Very strange ,Robin. He always seemed a decent guy. Obvious point but have you tried phoning him ?. I assume there
is a contact number on his site ? Outside of the UK I nearly always use Zpacks now. I have got a lot of their gear and always
get a very quick response from Joe or one of his team, and very helpfull there are too. Henry at TT is good too. Ron at MLD can
be a bit surly at times but gets there eventually.
I had considered phoning, but didn't want a confrontation. He must know I've been trying to contact him. He's generally been good at getting back to me in the past, which is why I'm doubly puzzled.
Did you pay via Paypal? You can try a claim but I think you only have 3 months?
180 days. Finishes next week, which is why I asked the original question. If I don't hear by Wednesday, I'm putting in a claim.
If I'd seen this lot I'd have mailed you in an instant !
As you say, you've been an enthusiast; I only heard of As Tucas via you....and was thinking of getting some troosers.....thinking again...
It's such a shame. Everything I've had has been high quality. In the end customer service is a key competence that seems to be the Achilles heel of many small businesses
As soon as it's office hours tomorrow get on the phone. If he doesn't answer, leave a message with your intended actions.
I agree it's pick the phone up time. Doesn't have to be confrontational though - I would just say "I've been trying to get in touch through various means but hadn't heard back from you. Did you not get the messages?" He might genuinely not have and he could then explain the situation. Or he might say he did get them and then explain why he didn't get back in touch.
Hear him out and then decide what to do e.g. well thanks but I've been waiting since Feb and I needed it for a trip next week so probably best just to refund me.
Unfortunately being a close knit community Marco has probably sealed his own coffin here on our own small community...and I say that as a previous customer of his. CS is key. Having the ability to fully update a customer should they contact you is crucial in this day and age.
What a shame. Always had good relations with Marco and every As Tucas-product I own is top notch.
I hope this turns out well, though.
Not sure if it will put everyone off; might be a reasonable response.....and Oookworks still appears to be going OK despite varying degrees of feedback over the years....
Benefit of the doubt, and all that.
Bit of a sad tale! Sorry to hear.
We have debated issues and pros and cons of cottage industries in the past.
It seems many replies have confidence in this supplier
Hopefully things sort out for you!!!!
