Hi all

Just thought I would give you a quick run down of the inner on this shelter.

£98.62 | ASTA 2019 new arrival ultra light hexagon design 20d silnylon outdoor 3 seasons 1 person/2 person camping tent https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/3BcP9De

I wanted a 2p inner for my hex peak and was looking at this 2p inner, I have the 1p (in another thread)

But the inner and outer came up for £87 so it was only £40ish more for both so I thought.... well... why not.
Doesn't matter if it gets trashed for that price.... well... you know what I mean.

On my scales...... 556g inc supplied storage bag.

It seems to fit ok, but you will need to raise the pole abit, I set it up at 140cm and it may fit a little better if the pole was raised slightly more.

I have swapped out the guys for black bungee cord as the originals were too short to pitch properly anyway (I may change back to static at some point) but going to see how it goes for now.

The top..... I can only get the bottom of my pole through the hole so I kept the rubber tip on it and used half a tennis ball to spread the load.

I also tied the original loop with clip on and attached some black bungee and an s-biner. And kept the asta clip.... for now.

I was wondering how I could seal the top hole on the inner so for now I have just used a small piece of Velcro to keep the bugs out.

All in all I am quite happy with it although it is abit more of a faff to put up than the 1p but no surprise there.

Photos taken with a go pro so you have a better fov.

Hi,
Just a few questions if you don't mind
What would be the maximum user's heigh you'd recommend ?
And without the inner and while sleeping in diagonal ?
Also, could it be possible to know how much exactly does the outer weights with cords ?
Thanks

Looks good mate. Love the space of my Hex original 2p inner I'm using ( not used my 1p yet ) so this would be a good inbetween with space.

if you click on the link you can read all the specs there but i have only set it up an the garden once so not managed to have a mess about with it much.
and in answer to you other question, yeah just get it together and weigh it.
or just go off the specs online and add the weight of the extra cords

yea, i wanted a 2p and didnt fancy the weight of the original, what does it weigh?
obviously not as robust... or warm but.......... as we all know its a trade off.
i quite like the nice little porch for boots at least.
do you chuck you boots out at night @Diddi ?

Two queries:
If you bought the complete Asta tent, what is the point of putting the Asta inner in the Hex outer? Why not just use the Asta complete? Particularly as it's no heavier and you get to use the second door.
In my understanding of these matters, when two adults share a cosy tent, it's usually because they are on cosy terms with each other. Doesn't the central pole get in the way of nocturnal cosiness?
And one answer:
Diddi's Luxe 2-person inner thumps onto the scales at a not inconsiderable 890g.

Depends on time of year mate, winter in to keep dry, summer out to dry out..

Doesn't matter what my tent/inner or anything weighs its overall pack weight imo.. so I'm happy lumping it around to the point I may take it this weekend all for myself over my 360gm inner, weather dependant.
Weight bothers me not...

The point is, as said it was only 40quid more for both and yes I will use them both together as I do really like the double door option especially if there is 2.

But it's not a supposedly bomb proof hex!
It's a cheap product from ali express, it does weigh abit more.... granted not alot but...

I would prefer to risk bad weather in my hex on the top of a mountain than the asta.... unless it turns out to be bomber... time will tell.

And for woodland camping, probably with a fire I would rather use the asta as it's cheaper to replace if damaged than my hex.

Haha... the nocturnal business, yes maybe it will but as I will hopefully be sharing with my daughter so that isn't a concern.

I want to try n hang it properly off a branch at some point or make I tripod on the outside to alleviate this problem.

I wouldn't mind a hex double inner for the colder nights but I am happy with what iv got for now:biggrin:

Stonemonkey, I'd be tempted to experiment with whether the double inner would fit inside half an octopeak, possibly with the pole slightly offset, as my tall wife likes the height of the octopeak but the whole thing is rather heavy if its just the two of us. However, I can't seem to find an option to buy the inner on its own. Mind you, I can never seem to make AliExpress's search function work for me - it won't even find the whole tent for me, I can only get to it from your link. But is there an option to just buy the inner - your post seems to imply that there is?

Try this.......
£34.72 | ASTA xinxue 1 person/ 2 person inner 216*70*110 cm/216*135*120 cm summer inner https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/NkvrJFAs

The thing with Ali express is it tends to suggest things similar to what you have looked at so after looking at this and saving it you may see more options...

I had thought about offsetting my walking pole with it in the hex but after setting it up I don't think that's an option for me.

You may get away with it in the octo tho.
How tall is it?

Octopeak is 2m high and 3m across. Looking at those dimensions I wonder if this inner is going to be just a bit too deep even for that (looks as if it would need a 0.5m offset) but I might set up the outer at the weekend and see exactly how it would work. Thanks for the help.

Hmmm sounds like it probably will fit but you would have alot of wasted space above it.

More room to hang your gear lol
You could easily unclip it to create a more usable space when the bedroom isn't in use.

Let us know how you get on with it mate
