Ordered a "The Atom"
Tom is easy to work with; I'll do a post here about the pack once I get it!
Sweet. Standard version or any mods?
Asked for stretch pockets on the shoulder straps, a cord system for attaching a sitpad to the back and a detachable 20mm webbing hipbelt. All included in the price.
Pretty nice. I'm quite seriously eyeing up that pack so I'll be very interested to what you think of it.
Not like you to 'seriously eye up' a pack fluff
Indeed, totally unusual.
I might just be able to afford an Atom unlike my usual lust object packs.
I could be tempted to part with my fastpack to try an atom ....mmmm
Speaking of the Fastpack, are you reviewing it soon? Might end up being a toss up between one and the Atom.
This weekend...I have done some good mileage with it now, and wanted to give it a real chance...only thing I haven't managed is to do some miles in lashing rain . I will let you into a secret *whispers* I've found it a lot more comfortable with the back insert removed and my folded exped in it's place....I've been happy happy happy with it with only one niggle ...it's even had me considering selling my OHM .I think I'd only part with it for something alot lighter like the atom.
I've a mod to do on it that could be interesting before I do the review...
Sounds good. Looking forward to seeing what you say.

Received your pack? Be good to see a thread about it when you do
I asked him today, should be soon. I'll definitely post some first impressions.
Received this this week. Initial impressions are very good - will do a full post this weekend hopefully once I've had time to load it up with some gear, etc.
Seen some of his stuff on Insta. Looks very good.
Fantastic, hope you like it.
First look at the Prospector pack for anyone considering an Atom
Interesting, a bit heavier than I expected for a 40L pack?
I have one arriving tomorrow and I'll be using it in anger over this long weekend. I'll post how it goes.
Weight, durability and design look good - hence the order.
Tom is a good bloke to work with. He'll have a go at meeting any requirement. He's done a custom size and added a zipped pocket for me.
You have to understand he's one-bloke-in-a-shed at the moment. The three weeks delivery for my pack has become closer to 5 weeks and it's been touch-and-go whether it would be finished in time for my Easter trip.
I think he might have rushed to finish and he put a short line of stitching in the wrong place. He's hugely apologetic and offered to make amends. I've yet to see how it looks in the flesh but it seems cosmetic.
Basically, it's not an off-the-shelf bit of kit but likely all the better for it.
An update after using my AtomPacks Prospector in anger...
Its light, strong and comfortable. Recommended.
A few more words:
We were out for three days along upper Eskdale and over Esk Pike. We got the lot: gale force wind, heavy rain and then heavy snow. The pack was thrown about a bit, dropped over a couple of stiles, hauled for several hours with an inch of snow on it, and used as a pillow for a couple of nights too.
It held up fine, with no wear or tear. The inside stayed dry despite the lack of taped seams. It was comfortable, with a surprising amount of padding on the lower back, shoulder and hip belts.
The weight, including a custom 60L size and an extra zippered pocket, was 890g. It's VX21 fabric feels much tougher than some lightweight packs out there made out of condom-looking material. The big back pouch was ideal for my waterproofs and other odd bits that didn't need to stay dry. It had loads of room inside for all my winter stuff and the top was rolled down a foot or so, meaning plenty more could have been stuffed inside.
Tom is replacing it for me because of a small cosmetic fault that we'd discussed before delivery. I've asked for some personal tweaks: Slightly taller side pockets to make my squidgy 1L BeFree extra secure, a zippered pouch on the hip belt, and a clip on the top of the big back pouch as it was a little gapey when lightly loaded.
It's the best light, yet large, pack I've seen. There's nothing about it that I'd fault. Tom is an excellent person to work with to produce a pack that is custom built to fit you, with whatever extras you need. Sure, there might be lighter packs out there but not many that are such a useful size and that will likely be going strong after years of use. Only small issue is the lead-time: it's currently about 5 weeks, so plan ahead if you want one.
Once I get the replacement pack and I've used it for some time, I'll post a longer-term review here.
Had a trip planned for this weekend but a migraine stopped that and put me in bed so to cheer myself up I just lobbed off an order for a 40l The Atom in navy blue with an added removable hip belt. Tom at Atom Packs is really nice and helpful to deal with.
Now to stop myself bursting with anticipation .
Nice I think we need a thread for all things Atom a bit like the Pa’lante thread.
Did you get the shoulder strap pockets as well?
I did, they're now standard on The Atom. Hip belt is an extra £5, and postage £4.95 so all up great value.
Have a feeling navy blue with orange high llights will be awesome.
I do like the look of that in the bright blue colour
I might have missed moving a few posts but I think I've found most of them
