I'm quite impressed with my Decathlon bargain fleece.

https://www.decathlon.co.uk/mh500-m-fleece-khaki-green-id_8505184.html

It has thicker fleece squares with thinner in between (see image) and is warmer than expected (subjectively). I think it would be excellent as a mid layer or under a wind shirt. Absolute bargain for £10. I just weighed my size 206g in size XL. I'd say XL is more like most L tops are on me so probably best to go up a size.

A guy I work with has one of them and they look really good, especially for the price. I'll pick up a couple when I get a chance.

I'd think Halo warmer in static conditions.
More like 100g/m of climashield?

But stitched through, and there's no hood so standing around in a breeze could be different.

Not a massive discount at 30% reduced but a nice boot if its your thing, & even a few half sizes which wont be distributed by Scarpa UK ;)
Marmolada Treks £141.37
They do have a Drumlin sole compared to the Mulaz S of the older version, so don't know how that is but the older gen is a great boot imo.
Am so tempted to get a pair, if they had a 42 left I'd snap them up, but I have said am going to cut down on buying this year :( (they better sell out of the 42.5's quick or that mightn't last for long :nailbiting:)

@Padstowe Are Marmoladas 4 season boots? Tempted to buy some winter 'proper' footwear and not looking for 3 season boots as I have my trailrunners for that.

To be honest i've not used them much in the snow, no real winter skills. I know they're rated for low level winter walking, bar needing gaiters as the upper tongue gusset may allow water ingress, can't see why they wouldn't be suited. (water ingress isn't as bad as it sounds imo)
@Teepee has both the marmolada's & marmolada pros, I believe he prefers the pros for winter but has stated that both are suitable.
I could be wrong, but if he has the time he would know better.

Yes, I have both. They have been my workhorses for 3 years now. They work OK as 4 season boots but I wouldn't choose them for it. They are more of a 3-4 season/ 3 season plus. They have a wide, but shallowish to profile that suits wider feet wearing thinner socks where you can wiggle your toes to keep the blood flowing. I'd say a mix of 90% normal wear and 10% walking in crampons is the ideal mix for these, and wouldn't want to take them any lower than -7c or so for extended use. The sole is stiff enough to be a great scrambling and Via Ferrata boot, and they do OK with crampons ( need a flex bar) As they are suede, they soak water up when hiking through snow and so suffer a bit in slushy or wet snow. In these conditions, a pair of gaiters keeps them much drier. If the snow is dry and it's not too cold, they do really well through the winter. You can wade all day in them and keep dry feet.

For dedicated 4 season, I use something else. They are very good for lots of UK winter use though, where it's not very snowy but instead wet and warmer.

@slovhike looking at your lovely new 'back garden', I'd definitely choose something else.

@Teepee cheers mate. The wide fit sounds great as I have very wide feet and struggle to find decent wide footwear. I have full leather boots but they suck up too much water and get crazy cold/heavy and simply uncomfortable so I don`t use them at all. I reckon full synthetic boots fare much better and are much lighter. La sportivas dont fit me at all...I was looking at Kayland cross mountain they are very wide and fit me great but again I was warned they are more 3 season boots so looking forward....marmoladas in same range as Kayland above or they are much more winter oriented boot for slow mountain plodding?

I'm not familar with Kayland, but looking at them, I suspect them to be very similar. They both look to be aimed at a similar market. They both have narrow soles, but outer balloons out on the forefoot to give the wide fit. Both have suede outers too.
FWIW, for full on winter use where crampons are on permanently, I use Scarpa Phantom guides. Their fit is very wide and they feel like slippers on my 2E feet, with more room for thick socks.

@Padstowe answering your point from earlier re Mulaz and Drumlin soles, I can't really tell much difference in use. Certainly, the Drumlin are as grippy...seem to last longer too with the same use. What is noticably better is the higher rand, ankle fit, and lace lock. They aren't quite as nimble though, the Treks seem to fit into smaller spaces and feel a little lighter.

I've ordered a Gilet, hopefully for pickup at my local store.
For £9.99, bit of a bargain plus returns/exchange at Decathlon is pretty painless so worth a shot.
Only problem I've ever had with Decathlon is their sizings is a bit strange.

I thought they did free Click & collect from local store or 99p from Pick up point (Asda etc)
Or you could spend more money (over £30) and get free home delivery (and more STUFF!!!):)
