Love a good list :)

How come you decided on the TS in the end?

It looks like we're in for some interesting weather over the next month and I think I'll be more confident of the TS. If I'd had more chance to test the DM I might have gone with it but I can't have it failing when I'm half way.

If my solo inner turns up (order went in two months ago yesterday) then I might change my mind :)

I've seen some video of a sil DM standing strong in some serious wind but not the cuben version, have you had any rough nights in yours?

No not really to be honest, been quite lucky in it so far and always thrown the TS in when the forecast has been bad, got too many shelters in a way as if I only had the Duomid I'd have to take it and I'm sure it'd be fine.

Duomid looks to be doing quite well in this vid, then you see a TS sat in the background completley rock solid

Yeah that's exactly it for me too, it'd be 170g saved if the inner turns up and I decide to switch, not a massive saving in the grand scheme of things

Thought the Arc Blast was waterproof, why the liner?
Mug and Jet boil... luxury
Interested in the Sawyer bottle - 2 litres seems big if a dirty water reservoir?
Aloksac lighter than Ortlieb. Maps double sided on rice paper?
A lot of Savlon.
Savon de Marseille 'lighter' than liquid soap.
Sliver of crystal deo is 14g
Prisms for sleeping in if cold?

- The liner is just back up in case I snag the pack, 27g is not noticeable
- I like a mug :)
- 2L seems about right, that does me for evening meals, breakfast and brews. Plus a bit left over to top up the water bottle and have a quick wash in the morning. It'll be dirty water but perfectly safe to drink, the Sawyer probably won't get used until we're near civilisation.
- sorry forgot to include the paper weight, now amended _ Plus Aloksaks are crap, the seals bust after a few months of use
- The Savlon needs decanting into a little ally tub, I've not revisited the FAK yet, it should end up more around 20g when done.
- The Bronners needs using, the bottles seem to last forever, nice stuff for self and kit
- Never tried a crystal deo
- Yup :) and around camp if it's been a wet and cold day

I was jesting about the rice paper... although it is edible...

I've used Aloksacs as mapcases for several years at a time with no hassles.

The Packit Gourmet stuff seems to get rave reviews.

It's not a bad idea actually, I wonder how many calories are in a sheet of A4? :)

Now I've had bad experiences with Aloksaks, I've also used them for many years, mostly on canoe trips up in Scotland. The small ones are not as bad but I've had the seals rip off on at least three or four A4 doc cases. I finally ditched them before my TGO and bought a Haglofs case from Castleberg on my way to the Lakes one day, five minutes after leaving the car the seal ripped clean off. I got a replacement on the way home but that's also buggered now.

I'm currently using the Ortlieb A4 document case which is a velcro and roll down closure, nothing to fail and a decent weight too.

The PG meals are something else, more like proper food compared to the usual dried stuff, sadly lacking in calories though.

Go the USA Way and gloop in some olive oil to up calories?

I don't use my Aloksac mapcases much as I seldom look at a paper map. Thinking about it I have an Ortlieb mapcase that came with my bike bag.

I thought I'd use some POE sealed pouches to transport my powdered food... good idea on paper but the seals clog fast. US Ziplocks are better.

Have a good trip; looks a good 'route'

I think I'll be good for food, if I think I'm struggling I can grab some olive oil in Ullapool, or just nick some of Pete's

Looks a good list Rich. hope you all have a great time

Cheers Paul

Food and kit sorted, just twiddling my thumbs for the rest of the week now, must resist adding some "just in case" bits to the pack

Nice list, i'm a bit surprised at the base weight considering the big 3 are so light, was expecting @ 6kg. Its surprising how things mount up.
Have a good trip...:)
