....much under 9kg and i don't really notice much of a difference

If i go as low as 7kg then i don't notice a difference at all (e.g. dropping from 7kg to 6kg)

:shifty: I do... 8kg, 7kg, 6kg...all noticeably different, not a huge big deal, but I prefer 5kg any day. Ever stashed your pack to nip up to a summit, how liberating taking 7kg off feels?...
Time to spend more money...:greedy:
Or maybe not...:banghead:

No idea how "bonny" you are mate, me personally i'm around 90kg and 5'8', so 1kg less (at around 7kg) is like peeing in the sea to raise water levels

Just weighed my pack from the day hike earlier in the week, 6.6kg
That's without water and the couple of snacks i ate, so i'd say i was easily at 8kg, i can't honestly say as i really noticed the pack at all.

If i was doing over 25km a day then fair enough every kg i can save is going to help, but generally anything under 8kg i tend not to notice on the bimbles i do.

El's pretty pleasing to the eye Gix :angelic:

My weight reduction on ZPacks wide, Prophet, and Solomid comes in at about 950g - at a cost of £944ish....gulp, looks bad when added up! Mmm 99p a gram.

Contrasted with me losing 3.6Kgs and saving probably £150 in wine and ice-cream over the last three weeks.... I believe that makes me a credulous muppet :banghead:

Hacksaw as said, I'll dig out a pic. I superglue a dental floss finger loop to mine.

PCT is off. Next year pencilled in.

I'm going to do the Tahoe Rim Trail to acclimatise, try an off trail route in the Sierra (few weeks with resupplies) - then meet friends in Wyoming to try an off trail route in the Wind Rivers.

I think the most I'll have to carry is 8 days.. more than enough as age augments!

It looks good and pretty easy to get to using public transport (a rarity in the US).

Great to see these kit lists. Reassuring that I'm not the only gram weenie out there! Mine - evolved over a couple of years - is in Excel. Each item of kit has been painstakingly added to a drop-down menu in each cell within each list category. I create a new tab, give it a title and adjust the gear list accordingly. Where an item is not needed, I select 'none' and it disappears. There is a 'check' box in the first column, so when it is printed out, I can tick off each item before packing. Lists include Wild Summer, Wild Winter, Backpacking 2-5-day, TGO Challenge (updating now for 2019). Kayak Journey 3-day, Cycle Tour - you get the idea. Happy to post if I can get it into Google Docs. However, not sure if the formatting will work.
