    Hi there!
I have just discovered the trek-lite forums and find them really interesting.
I love to spend time outdoors, but have not been on any great and far away expeditions so far. I enjoy hiking, especially with my family and my two dogs. I can't say that I've been hiking ultra-light so far, but I am working on reducing my carrying weight step by step. I have plans on a week-long hiking trip close to home with at least two of my kids (the older ones have got plans on their own already).
I'm looking forward to sharing some of my adventures with you in the future and getting some tips and tricks from this experienced community.

Hi Uke, welcome to the forum. :)

I very much like your colour of shelter and dog jackets. :)

    Thanks Pete!
Not exactly to hide in the woods though :)
The dog jackets are rucksacks actually. So they can contribute to my hiking light.

    Welcome Uke
    Is that a Haglofs tent?

It is a Camp tunnel tent (2 person). Pretty light, maybe not ultralight. 1400 g incl pegs. More than enough room for me and my two dogs.

You're in the right place for a sensible transition to (ultra)light gear ;)

Hello and welcome here. Not seen this shelter but camp do some nice gear - including some UL kit... :)

I really got this tent by chance a few years back, when I started out on a 3-day hike with my family without much preparation. I needed a light alternative to my DD-tarp which I was carrying as well. It really is a great piece of gear, especially in the mountains with little space to pitch it. Not freestanding of course. The colour ist different to the present model:
My tent is definitely 100g lighter than advertised on the website. And, I like bright colours if I don't need to hide out :)

Not a great site, and a pretty bad pitch, but that was a first ;-)

Thanks SafetyThird! Actually I have, and I'm planning on enjoying it more. It's so easy to get carried away looking at trips and expeditions on the net and to forget about the great outdoors just at your doorstep. I'd love to share some trips on this forum in the future.

Hi Uke, welcome to the forum. Are you a SkiingUke as well as a ClimbingUke? I've been to the Tirol quite a few times over the years both in the winter and the summer and love the place and the people.

Hi PhilHo! I don't usually go skiing in the big tourist places, but I like to do randonee skiing. I have been living in the Tyrol for 17 years. It is a great place!
