Kayaked the strid quite a few times. It's a nice area but if you get the chance paddling the river gives you a very different experience. The dippers are amazing birds and there's lots on that river. Kayaks are the best way bar none to see them up close.

Er, are u "allowed" to kayak the area? Or was it er, off piste? (I know nowt about such things)
A few years back and an access agreement. It's a doddle really. Intermediate level paddler could do it a little drop then a wider bit with a rock in it before the bigger drop to the end. Pins on the rock are the classic rookie mistake. That's if I recall correctly, which isn't guaranteed because I last paddled it 10 or more years ago.
Still rest of river is a doddle.
