Could still get stuck in customs & end up with a VAT bill
Well, funny thing is... the message that it was at the postal centre changed to say it was with air transport or s9mrtnung like that... now it says it’s with the Chinese postal centre again.
I don’t mind paying tax on it, I just want the bleddy postman to deliver it.
I don't have too much problem with paying the VAT (it's the rules after all). What I object to is when the Royal Mail hit me last Friday with a £8 'Handling Charge' because HM Customs slapped £3.11 VAT on the just-over-£15 import value (from China, courtesy of Gearbest). Not amused. This has never happened to me with AliExpress. My first and last Gearbest transaction.
Oh that’s not good.
How long did your AliExpress delivery take?
Ali was much quicker - around 2 weeks usually. This Gearbest delivery took 5 weeks.
I contacted Zebralight to ask if they could look into where my package was, I got this reply:
“The registered airmail normally takes two to eight weeks. Sorry for the waiting.
Online status may not show the destination carrier's status...”
There’s a label on the packet saying I owe £8 handling charge and £3.50 vat
But the postman delivered it - I thought they were supposed to hold it until I paid them?
give the money to the window cleaner to pass on.
Don’t get me started on that useless Git!
Ooo, that’s great
Be careful. It will appear on somebody's accounts as an unpaid debt. It will then probably get passed onto a debt collection agency who will harass you. Years ago Fedex claimed I owed them some sort of handling charge on an imported item, which I didn't. After several months of threatening letters, it went to the Small Claims Court. I had al the relevant documents prepared, plus they never sent me a copy of the invoice showing me the outstanding debt, which I had requested. Debt collectors didn't turn up at court, so I got a nice bonus in costs for my time and effort in preparing my defense.
Ooo, maybe I’ll just go and pay the post office.
