Does anyone know where to buy the big single OS map covering the whole of the Lakes at 1:25k? The type you find in YHAs etc

I've had a look before and couldn't find them

i think you will need to go to one of the full custom companies to get something like 2A0 size, not sure if you will get it all in at 1:25000 and it will probably be a few hundred £
you can order the OS custom maps on their website as flat rather than folded, so 4 x 1:50000 at £17 would probably cover all of the lakes and get a local print shop to either mount them or trim them for wallpapering.

i am pretty sure OS used to offer other custom work direct, i commissioned some very large high detail maps (2 meter+) for things like new hospital builds when i worked with NHS Estates. its worth giving them a call and asking.

I have the regular OS Lake district maps (NW, NE, SE, SW) - but I ordered a 5th custom map which covers the central area. I find one map usually covers any trip. Having the central map is really useful .
OR are you looking for a wall 'display' ?

Yeah it's for the spare bedroom when I decorate it next, there's a big wall with nothing on and I thought it might be useful

I quite like the 3D relief maps but I think they work better on a horizontal surface

I acquired a huge wall chart of the geology of UK as a child - glorious colours and patterns.
I wish I had it now - think my mother threw it out. (she did that often with many of my things ).
^^^ Just a suggestion (if such things are still available) ??

    Hello all

Not sure who to ask about this to be honest.
Im looking for a website that will allow me to take trail maps for mountains in the lake district so that I can print them for FREE and laminate them myself. Not sure if anyone knows a site that this can be done on.

    Any help would be great.
    Thank you

Might as well post here as anywhere else - I've just got the Harvey's ultramaps for the peak district. 1:40k, polythene, and folded like a small smartphone form factor. Three cover the peak district, but they are very handy to use so are now my preferred map.

The search engine Bing use OS maps.
Apparently, all one does is full screen then print screen, apparently.

"We provide Ordnance Survey 1:25,000 scale maps and aerial photography in association with our partner WalkLakes on whose site the mapping is hosted. Before you use it you will need to register with Walklakes"

"If you register with WalkLakes you can purchase content, access our 1:25,000 OS mapping, log your walks and hills bagged, and participate in our forum including writing walk reports."

A nice thing about this, I could see it being a free collaborative route planning tool.
You can create, edit, import and export routes as GPX and KML files.
I could just upload a GPX file of the track I did yesterday here, and you could download it, go to https://maps.the-hug.net/ then choose load GPX file from the menu.
