I saw the teaser on the Instagram page. I guessed it'd be 7d. Tempted to make a winter bag, would need to source 5-600g of affordable 850-900fp though.

Found THESE tiny 10mm quick release clips on eBay, £0.99 for 10, I guess they're for ID lanyards or something. I going to use them on the tie backs on the nest door to replace the toggle & loop; a massive weight 0.77g, probably less than a toggle, secure & less messing :)

Do you have a link to these @Whiteburn ?
I think there was a hyperlink in your post originally but it isn't working for me now.
Cheers

Any source for silnylon that's really cheap and has cheap shipping to Belgium? Just looking to make some stuff sacks as a first experience sewing the material.

This looks like the stuff that @tom found in a La Palma hardware store and rated very highly for lightness, strength and insulation. Tom?
@Clare - the la palma stuff is definitely not tyvek but similar to the poly sheet I gave you with the notch solid inner

There is a reason I haven't rushed to try it...
I do fancy making a thermal version of dirty girls though, might be of use for those...

This is the closest I've come to finding cheap silnylon...
It's actually nylon that's coated with PU on one side and Silicone on the other. Any idea about characteristics of such a fabric? Online searches yield very little results.
I'd like to get some experience sewing these light nylons by making some MYOG drysacks but I'd also like the drysacks to be usable, so some info on how to seal etc. would be welcome.

Silpoly is getting quite common for outdoor gear e.g. tents. should prove no harder to sew than Silnylon & probably a lot easier than 10D (27g/m2) nylons.
On the PU side you could seam seal the seams with iron on tape or thinned (Xylene) Seamgrip on the Silicone side thinned (white spirit) Silnet.

Isn't silpoly the name that's used for polyester with a silicone coating instead of nylon with a polyurethane/silicone coating?

Is one more preferable than the other? Which kind of seam would be preferable for a stuffsack?

The stuff you linked (in theory, quality will vary) is similar to a lot of what tent makers are using now, both nylon and polyester. PU coating on the inside allows factory taping and higher HH, sil on the outside gives permanent dwr, add a little to HH, a little abrasion resistance, doesn't stain easily and adds a little strength to the fabric, plus you can seal the outside with silnet is the tape ever peels on the inside.

I was definitely not planning on making a shelter out of it, but it does seem like an interesting fabric. Thanks!

Anyone know where to get ''split" plastic D rings - about 18-20mm width?

I need them for grosgrain hanging loops, but dont want to cut the grosgrain loop so need to attachable somehow.

Prefer plastic or split O rings or equivalent would suffice.
