Armchair take, but wouldn't the cord fail pretty soon at the point where it bends?

It's a very similar method that Mountain King poles have been using for years. should be fine.... apart from. every single item I've ever had from OMM always seems to fail due to construction... speaking of hems, seams etc on clothing and some packs, waistbelts.

Kinda feel similar about OMM, tho I haven't had many outright failures, their designs always seem *almost* great but usually have a near-dealbreaker issue.
