They're due to launch two new bags in the Spring, the Levity and Lumina. the 60l bag is 830g but otherwise seems to be much the same shape as the exos but a bigger looser mesh pocket and the dual entry side pockets look to be more dual than before, which I don't like as bottles go in easier but fall out easier too. But for the price of $260 could get an arc haul, although I suppose the Levity will be available in the UK. Looks rather fragile.

I am going to be interested in seeing those when they're finally released though I'm wary of the pricing.

Nothing in the updated Exos or Eja that makes me want to switch out my Exos 38 for one of them.

Interesting difference from the claimed weight. Always thought Osprey were pretty accurate with their weight claims.

Superiour Wilderness Designs just accounced the full suspension Superiour 40.

I have (too much ) experience with SWD and their packs are fully customizable and very good.

Interesting read. Don't think my current Exos will be replaced (if it ever gets replaced which is looking unlikely) with either of these though.

The comparison here is between the Levity and the new style Exos. If you want hip belt pockets and shoulder strap pockets, the Levity 45 seems to offer only minor weight savings over the now old style Exos 38 or 48.

Really don't like that you can't remove the brain on the Levity/Lumina, don't like the lack of stretch on the external pockets or the getting rid of the (admittedly small) mesh strap pockets especially since Osprey straps tend not to be easy attaching after market pouches/pockets to. Not that worried about the lack of hip belt pockets as I'm not really used to using them much since my packs either don't have them or like on the Exos they're a bit small.

It looks like they've made the new Exos/Eja minutely heavier.

Chris Townsend has done a review of the Levity 45.

Damned with faint praise. It's too expensive for almost no benefits. I don't like the non-stretchy front pocket, don't like the double entry side pocket, don't like the price. Hopefully, with the introduction of the new Exos, the old style Exos will now be sold off really cheap and I'll get a 58 to slice the tiny pockets off and add better ones.

At a £220 price tag (double the Exos), only 240g lighter that the Exos 48, and probably not as comfy, not sure it's going to be a big seller.

If I had that money for a pack I'd be buying one of the things I keep lusting over instead of that.

Time to see if I can find a cheap unused old stock Exos 48.

Guess the best thing about it is that it offers a mainstream alternative for UL packs. Here in Sweden Fjällrävens 2,2 kg packs are marketed as light weight.

My German boyfriend, who had never hiked, wandered into a reputable outdoor shop in Berlin and was advised to buy a 2.5 kilo monster for a massive amount of money, well over £200 if I remember right. The waist belt clips alone weigh almost as much as our tent. He gamely carried it for a month through the Pyrenees but it's no longer part of his life. I found it quite shocking actually, that he got such bad advise from people working in an outdoor shop. It's a little bit sadistic.

Taunton and ULOG both have various sizes heavily discounted.
