That new version sounds like the one I've been waiting for

    sounds sensible. keep it simple.

I had a Solomid for a season a few years ago. sold it cos of the size and the fact that it was impossible to fully close the vent to prevent windblown rain ingress- the overlap wasn't big enough. Not such an issue in a larger area mid where drips can be avoided, but not for this rain magnet.

looking at the pic, the MLD vent geometry still looks iffy to me.

Was the windblown rain still a problem if you were pitched with the door on the leeward side Mole

should be a very easy mod to put a bit more overlap on the vent

not really Shewie. but wind direction changes.

That isn't the issue though. MLD claim the vents are fully closeable. The pole hood geometry was such that mine wasn't, and others I've seen aren't either. There just isn't enough vertical length in the hood to allow it. have you tried yours?

I don't think I've ever tried mate, I couldn't be bothered to wrestle out the piece of plastic to test it, it's a very tight fit in my DM :)

When I've looked at it in the past I think I had the same thoughts though.

I've always been quite fortunate with the weather when camping with the DM, no heavy rain so not had the need to try and close it up yet, I have had to pack up quickly before my DM blew away though.
