This is maybe taking lightweight and multiple-use a bit too far .

It took a few refills but I got boiling water and supper, eventually.

I had to do something or go hungry - supper was a freeze dried packet . The only other metal object I had was that bit of Alu foil, and I discovered it was full of pin prick holes when I tried to use it as a burner 'cup' - and set all the grass alight :nailbiting:.

So what kit 'mishaps' can the rest of you admit to ??

Went on a very cold day trip last winter with André. None of us brought lighters...

I went for a weekend in 2010 in the coldest spell of the winter (on purpose).

Luckily for me, I'd packed 2 silk liners to see which one worked best. I'd not packed my sleeping bag. It got to -12c.

Recently, kit gremlins have been stealing my spoon and I've been using the curled up lid of my coffee mug as a face shovel.

And of course, on the Iceland trip I managed to forget my inner sole at camp. Luckily we could go back and look for it. This is how happy (Relieved) I was when I found it:

Forgot all my food once - was just for an overnighter - but I won't repeat that in a hurry :banghead: !
Only remembered one Orthotic on one trip too. Managed suprisingly well - wonder if I need them after all

    Cathy,
I think the moral of this tale is.......women are best left in the kitchen :troll:

    Ditto.

I forgot the matches, and the lighter had leaked all its fuel on a trip earlier in the summer  - fortunately I'd brought along my daughter with her flint and steel :bag:

I once left a large crate of food at home on a family trip. We were off on a 3 day Foinaven traverse . Fortunately a road accident on the A9 put us so far behind in time that a bothy night and a trip to the Spar in Durness intervened to save my bacon .

I forgot my tea bags once. Lack of caffeine gave me a 24hr migraine. I thought I had a brain tumour :arghh:

I managed to take 2 left footed Salomon shoes (1 goretex and 1 non goretex) with me when we went to Snowdonia
I ended up hiking in my Converse All Star plimsolls
Slippy as hell and they weren't very white by the time i'd finished!

I got an opportune lift from a guy who had done the same and only realised at the trailhead - he was heading back into town to buy some more shoes; easiest 30-mile hitch ever!

Luckily the guy I was with was using one of my other setups so I cut about 3 ft of his cinch buckle straps and excess tarp lines from both our tarps. With a few overhand knots and marlin spike hitches I had a sketchy substitute suspension.

Thankfully we were only there two nights and car camping so we went elsewhere for the other two and swung by mine to get my actual setup. Still a scary two nights hanging from tarp lines lol.

I have forgotten my tent pegs on more than one occasion. I've carved my own on site when camping in woodland, and also just not used the tarp on another occasion.

This weekend I went out and forgot any form of sense.
When the forecast says wind of 50 mph with gust in excess of 75 and you ignore it thinking forecasts are always wrong.
Not much sleep hanging onto everything in the wet on Saturday night....
    I really am a halfwit.
