Trekkertent Saor SR1 and others

Saor looks interesting . Needs more/better photos. Dimensions.

Recent experience:
Just had a look at the emails I sent to trekkertent asking them to make me a pyramid net tent.
19th may, got email saying next week on 6 July.
Thought it was about time to send another email.
They provide a reassuring consistency in an ever faster changing world.
My myog skills are progressing enough that I think the 4-5 months of practice has given me the confidence that now I'd spend the extra money on a cuben floor rather than build cost.

Thats a bigger inner floorplan than a Scarp1.

The website needs a serious overhaul, especially bearing in mind its very difficult to see these tents online and not in shops. Then again, by the sounds of it, more business is the last thing they need.

No height of fly or inner given. From photos can't see if any ventilation.
Scarp 1 width extends between 81-132 cm ,so can be bigger. Only 2cm shorter in length.
As has been said website long overdue for an overhaul.

Just had a reply from Marc. He says the height of the fly is 100cm and the inner 95 ,and there
are 4 ways to vent the tent. He will be posting more pics and details soon.

The Saor does look interesting. Prompted my first look at the Trekkertent website, which isn't that helpful, as others have noted. Easy to fault-find I know, but I'd have thought a more informative and user-friendly website would do potential sales no harm.

Anyway, back to the Saor; looking at the photos, is it just me or is there precious little clearance between the inner and outer? And is that rather flat/upright/expansive/featureless rear panel a bit vulnerable to an oncoming wind?

Looks interesting, i wouldn't buy until i'd had a chance to pitch one first though.

Pitching the Edge is a right ball ache

Note I said, "but"......

My only fear would be if on exposed ridge/field and the wind changes and hits to what looks like a flat side panel on the down plan drawing.

Has anyone got a Phreeranger from tekkertent? reviews, or thoughts? can only find one blog online about it.

made a few inquiries into the 1man version in 20D, which looks pretty good at 890g all in except pegs.
I;m considering a new tent that isnt so heavily reliant on good pegging and hiking poles like my Stratospire1 is

Personally I’ll go with Tarptent excellent tents including Customer service and receive it within a week if in stock.
I’ve just bought my second one and most of the guys have Tarptents on here, so if you have any questions/problems
theirs always help to hand.
Also the Dollar is weaker to the pound at the moment.

I love my SS1, but im looking at something a bit more freestanding and lighter.
Quite like the look of the Bowfin actually, but im put off by all the shipping costs and import i paid last time. Got shafted for like £90 import which makes tarptent no cheaper than whats more commercially available.

i've had a Stealth 1 and liked the quality,

Shirley by the time you add pegs the difference between the Phreeranger lite and the SS1 will be minimal, hardly worth the expenditure unless the freestanding aspect is a deal breaker.

SS1 is 1020g, + hiking poles or 200g for carbon tent poles. so 1.2kg minimum. And relies on being able to put a lot of strain through the pegs to get it taught.

Where as there are semi freestanding tents (such as msr or coming in around 700-900g plus pegs, so quite a bit of weight difference, along with some convenience and flexibility on pitch conditions. though obviously the draw back is less stability in bad weather

I ordered a Phreeranger two weeks ago, I was told the lead time is six weeks, so I'll report back.
I already have a Tarptent Notch, which is a great little three season tent but I want something a bit stronger for Scandinavian winters.

Isn't the 4 season Phreeranger 1.25kg without pegs? so about the same weight as your SS1?

Which groundsheet did you go for?
