hi there everyone, I’m new here. I was wondering if anyone can give me info and point me in the right direction?
I have been a hammock hiker/camper for a long time now and I’m looking to purchase a dcf tent. I have been looking at the Zpacks Duplex as I love the footprint and the option to bring a friend with me. Although I do live in the uk and weather isn’t that great. I was wondering peoples thoughts about the duplex holding up in uk weather? Or I have been looking at the Tramplite, but seeing the posts on it, I don’t think I’m going to get my hands on 1?
Is there any other recomendations anyone has?

Last I heard Colin has limited production due to family illness. Mld, locus gear and tarptent worth a look for more storm worthy designs.

I sold my Duplex and loved it, but I replaced it with the Tarptent Stratospire Li. Similar footprint but you can order a solid inner with it for British weather. True double wall DCF tent with huge vestibules.

The Duplex is a great tent for some situations. As a tent for use in the UK, perhaps limited to some locations and some weather forecasts judging by the experience of some.
Yama Mountain Gear are worth a look; I really like the Swiftline and @FOX160 seems to be ok with it for UK conditions.
Then there's Dan Durston's Xmid, if you can wait.

I liked the look of the xmid but I thought there was limited production so went off the ideA? Will have a look into the swift line.
There’s so many tent options. Hammock buying is so much more simple haha.
Someone needs to bring out an ultra light hammock/tent! Solve all situations

Silnylon stretches when it gets wet, silpoly does not (but weight for weight nylon is stronger).

Colin (Tramplite) won’t be taking new orders until the second half of this year. I suspect you’d have to wait some time even then as there’s usually a lengthy backlog.

This could be up for sale shortly... Not ultralight for 1 but definitely for two and takes some serious weather... It can be used as a hot tent with the kit.

Like my Stealth 2 although it'd be tight for head room for 2 adults. Perfect for me plus a Davy junior and.a palace for 1. I've also a custom Drift 4. Can't fault the, workmanship in either, nor the price compared to equivalents.

A Drift 2 may suit.

Whilst my dealings with them have all been positive, it would seem others less so in respect of comms and lead times. May be worth an exploratory email?

They are fairly new but are similar in design to the X Mid with the off-set poles and more geometric design compared to the Duplex. Unfortunately I have not been able to test mine out yet but I'm sure there are some reviews out there already if you google them. Clare on here has one, and there are some comments in the New Tents thread.

I'm not a winter camper really so wont' start using it until soon. have slept in it only once so far in low wind conditions but if you look at the Strat thread in hère or the New Tent thread talking about the Aeon, I can't remember which thread, someone said they wished TT made a bullet proof DCF tent and Henry Shires of TarpTent said it's the StratLI. I.e. more so than the Notch Li or the Aeon. Actually not sure if the Aeon was out at that point. Fancy a TarpTent Aeon??
