I cannot find them to buy in the UK.
Anyone selling any?
If it doesn't have to be Easton, the following selection should include something suitable:
Alpkit are also good, and generally cheaper, though not as wide a range:
I have to confess to buying mine on AliExpress these days.
If they're for your Akto I'd you with a mix of Alpkit Ti pins & the Alpkit Apex 'V' stakes OR if you want a little cheaper order direct from Aliexpress.
Eastons are a bit over kill IMO unless your regularly camping on very soft ground or trying to hold up a Mid.
Thank you @Whiteburn and @dovidola
I actually just purchased 4 of these from Alli
I want to buy two msr blizards as well (trowel double use)
and some msr groundhogs so I have a nice collection. They are also for my hexamid and the Akto. I want my tent to hold out 60mph winds so I want the BEST I can get different pegs for different uses
I already have some AKto Vs but one got lost.
@dovidola @Whiteburn which ones would you suggest for a nice variety ? i am not too sure to go for mini groundhogs or standard size. happy to buy alpkit. I dont mind the brand ; I just want to feel safe .
If you really wanting Easton for the Hex the last time I bought some was from Locus Gear about £20 for 6 & luckily they managed to sneak past customs so didn't get a supplementary ~£10 charge which would have made them ridiculously expensive.
This is also an option but shipping may make it less of a good deal......
My choice for my akto. Silly cheap from Amazon
Ali used to do blizzard copys too, might be worth a look. The square section solid carbon ones are good too.
I do like the look of the carbon pegs you ordered @Autumn Flower and I'd be interested to learn how you get on with them.
The only stakes I found disappointing of those I've had from AliExpress have been the MSR Blizzard copies. I took one to double as a toilet trowel, but found that the point end was prone to bending too easily. I dare say they'd perform fine as true snow or sand stakes though, which after all is their intended use.
For toilet use I've now got a Vargo Dig-Dig, which is brilliant. It's a trowel which doubles as a stake, rather than the other way round, if you know what I mean. Overpriced but nice.
@Autumn Flower if you want to know what to have in your arsenal of stakes to be safe, it's hard to advise because we approach the question individually. I probably go over the top, with my stakes at 15g each and full length, and I'm currently looking to 'slim down' without sacrificing performance, but my 'system' which has served me well so far is to take a full-size groundhog-style stake (because i think it's the most versatile) for each 'primary' pegging point (6 on my tent) and to supplement this with 3 Ti nail stakes and 3 Ti 'wide' V-stakes so that I can cover all the ground types I'm likely to encounter, using the 'less suitable' stakes at the pegging points which bear the least pressure.
Any V-pegs with cut outs that I've tried have bent too easily, but we generally have very hard and rocky ground; they probably work better in UK soil.
The only problem I found was they are quite sharp on the heel of the hand and required the assistance of a foot.
I used to use my trowel to push V and Y pegs in because I sliced my hand a few times. I replaced the trowel with a blizzard which works just as well.
Thank you for insights and advice!! @dovidola will let you know!
I quite like these as well. Apparently they are unbreakable but of course they would say that. Not bad at 3g and 13£ for 10. Ordering!!
Anyone got any experiences with these? Maybe I should create a stake thread?
Im not experienced enough to give advice but...
For wales/Dartmoor etc two easton 9", 4 x sorex 9" carbons
For SDW, Ridgeway etc two ti nails 6 ti hooks.
Shelter takes 6
I've got spare Easton pegs if you want some. Got some stuff from Tarptent and got extra pegs at the same time. Got quite a few of the gold longer ones and a couple of the shorter blue ones.
I meant to put the extra ones for sale a while ago once I knew what I needed but completely forgot!
Heck you can't go wrong with MSR Groundhogs. I love the minis for Rocky Mtn terrain but anything softer and boggier I'd go with the full-length version
Yes please!! Thank you. how much ? I only want two or three or four as I want to build a little collection of different pegs. I am going to be the peg lady (in the eyes of my family who would not understand such a thing hahaha)
No problem. I think Dave wants 5 but I have 4 for you as well. Is £3 each ok?
Very good deal ! Any spare ?? - I wouldn't say no to some more
I need to check but have 3 or 4 left. I bought quite a few to make sure I had enough for all the tents!! They are yours if you want and I'll get the number left later.
Yes please and Thanks
oh my god that would be fabulous!!! Thank you soo much. Will pm you
I have got 4 if you want
