Weekend Pack

I fancy getting a smaller pack for weekend stuff, somewhere around the 30L range preferably.

The trouble is most of them weigh more than my 60L Arc Blast

Any personal recommendations?

So far I've quickly glanced at

GG Kumo
SMD Flight
TN Quasar (not sure how they make a 30L cuben pack weigh so much)
Ferrino Radical (nice)
Something in silver XPAC from Laufbursche :D

That Zimmerbuilt Quickstep looks nice...

But for overnights a few extra grams don't matter really (wash my mouth out)

ZPacks zero?

Good shout

Just filled a basket and it comes in at $305 shipped, 360g on the scales give or take a few grams either way, plus the weight of my side pockets I can switch from my Arc Blast

I just need that Prophet to sell and I think I'll be checking out

I'd lose the padded belt, centre pocket, base straps

I couldn't decide between the webbing or padded belt, I do like one though. I find the centre pocket handy for all sorts during the day, I rarely open the pack until I next stop, for weekend trips I could probably lose it though. I like a base strap for my zlite sit pad which I've taken a shine too, It doesn't fold particularly flat otherwise I'd just slide it down inside the pack.

Good stuff. Think mine came in about 200g or so.

If you want to save a few pennies you could tape the seams yourself with a length of their cuben tape, very easy to do and won't take long.

Exped Summit Lite 25. Used one recently. Surprisingly comfortable.

I was looking at one of these recently. I've been cutting back and cutting back on what I take with me on day hikes, to the point that I can fit it all in a PLCE Side pocket, apart from the Water bottle (1L diet coke bottle). Which got me thinking about other options out there. The Exped Summit Lite 25 came near the top of the list of potentials. Along with the Exped Cloudburst 25 and the Sea-to-Summit Ultra sil day pack.

All are very affordable, incredibly light, and have more than enough capacity for my day hikes. The Summit lite is around 40 quid. At risk of a slight thread hijack, can you elaborate on your thoughts on the pack? my main thoughts relate to how sweaty the back might become?

Cheers

You'll get a sweaty back, no doubt. It doesn't really bother me so I don't notice, unless it's cold and I take the pack off, in which case I'll wear a jacket (or not be sweating).
It was ideal for what I was doing. "Easy" walking with plenty of rest stops where I made use of the good access and the lid pocket was very handy. Back support was provided by a 2l soft bottle/waterproof trousers/flip flops all stuffed into the hydration sleeve. Surprisingly comfortable. I could reach a 500ml bottle out of the side pocket and put it back without removing the pack.

I'm happy with the MLD NEWT, ~325g, 28L. It managed to slip into the MLD basket when I ordered my Duomid, $79.
Only used it on day hikes so far but but it easy managed to take trial 2 night summer loadout, ~6kg.

Took a punt on secondhand Kumo, size seems to be about right, a bit heaver than I was hoping for but a lot cheaper. I might treat myself to the belt and pockets from Bob if I like it.

I was in my local cotswolds getting a new set of super feet yesterday and noticed they had the cloud burst 25 on the rack. I had a play with it. It's certainly gone on the shopping list. It's not perfect out the box, but with some small mods (it doesn't fit round my boobs), I reacon it'll be a winner.

I've got an Alpkit version of the same bag, handy little pack, I wear mine for occasional day walks/paddles but mostly when I'm snowboarding
