40g of Alpha, I believe; I'd be interested to see how you get on with it.

Picked up a thermarest Z sit pad, ordered the older version on Amazon as it was 4 quid cheaper and they sent the new version, feels like a bargain even though I'll probably cut off the elastic.

Also got a pair of icebreaker 175 long johns for £22 from Amazon, had been looking for a silk pair but could never get any definite answer to how much they weigh, so took a chance on merino

Think I'm on my 6th alpha , still have 4 in different guises...sold the isotherm half zip...not through fault , through sizing ...

It has arrived! The Columbia Outdry Extreme Featherweight Shell Jacket. Nice fit, although I'd have liked a couple if inches more length in the body (but probably wouldn't be as good for runners then). Enough room to go nicely over a midweight down hoody. Just enough features to cover basic requirements. The colour is a bit of a high-viz shocker and it sounds like a crisp packet but so what? If it does what it says on the tin, at 237g and tiny packed size I'm properly impressed.

    Thanks again @Munro277

Not used it yet. I’d have liked a bit of something in the hood but for the price and the Wright is stupid light

I’ve been using the Featherweight since last May & can confirm it does what it needs to do.

It’s been in Norway, where it saw a whole day of drizzling rain, and some massive downpours & I was as dry as possible when walking up a mountain wearing a pack.

I use it when I have to walk the dog or cycle to work in torrential rain. Everytime it has kept me dry & water beads off nicely.

Not as breathable as GTX Shakedry but sturdier.

Good to know thanks @Arne L. Weight reduced from 237g to 235g now that I've removed some extraneous labels!

2 pairs of the brown 295s have arrived. More comfortable compared to my last 295s so im guessing the last has changed again. Mainly for dog walking duties and casual wear

NEW (to me) paramo enduro trousers. Took a chance with the sizing and got lucky :)
I can now look fully like all the gear, no idea with the matching coat and trousers.
in cool dry weather id still choose my Simond trousers, but this is the UK and I'll see if I can deal with the weight. Same weight as my shelter Inc groundsheet and stakes, my neoair and my phone!

    Where to?

I almost scored some half price ones for June last night but they failed as the last hurdle as oppdo must have realised they had loaded them wrong, I thought they were suspiciously cheap.

The £650 saving would have been rather nice.:frown:
