What 'camp shoes'

Usually I just wander around barefoot in the UK on our nice soft grass, but I'm off to do the GR20 in June and, wanting to give my feet some airtime, and as I'll be finishing around 2pm every day, I'm looking for something lightweight to wander around and wear in the refuges.

Any suggestions? Cheaper the better of course.

I only carry them on longer trips but love my Vivo Ultras

I used to carry some knock off Crocs from the local market, very light but don’t pack great.

They look interesting, but £60 for something for use in the evenings seems a bit too lavish at the moment! :)

These or similar are pretty good for camp ime. Very light and pretty durable. A little cushioning but not much. Skinners are pretty good, but quite expensive and heavier. They protect your feet a little more though.

I don't usually use camp shoes but take Vivo Ultras too (the older, lighter version) for overnight bus journeys.
I saw these mentioned somewhere.

Depends on how stylish or not in this case you want to go, do a Shug, a pair of insoles with duct tape wrapped around as a foot band, light weight and very breathable ;)

Some great (and also some quite funny!) suggestions. I guess I don't mind looking a bit 'off' on our remote British 'don't usually see anyone else' camps. But I think our country needs everything it can get image wise this year (har har). I'm probably overthinking it and should pop in to tk max and pick something cheap up...

A few folk here remove the insoles and trick their feet into thinking they’re in new shoes, makes sense but I’ve not tried it

1+ for the flip flips ... Thats what I had on both my GR 20 hikes. Perfect for a town or beach day too

I’ve got some M&S Espadrilles with a canvas top and synthetic soles and weigh only 177g for the pair. No longer available but I’m sure a google search would turn up something similar. Look quite smart too. I put some water repellent on the canvas.

I use some cheap croc copies - from Shoe Fayre as I recall. They stay on my feet far better than any flip=flops, but a little heavier. Tough enough for some serious walking as well - I've walked many a mile in mine - mainly to and from the pub!
Good for fording streams as well.

I don't really do many walks long enough to warrant carrying extra shoes. I even managed to stretch 5 days out of one pair of sealskins socks and some smelly inov-8's in the past :whistling:

However, i also have the pool shoes @craige mentioned above in a fetching orange colour which I got because sometimes I stay at NT sites and want to use the drying room for shoes etc. They tend to lay their paths with sharp gravel that does not agree with my delicate little tootsie's!

The soles are a bit thin, I keep meaning to make a little puncture proof insole from a bit of ice cream tub (or thin aluminium flashing) and some 3mm CCF, but I haven't got round to it yet.
