I tried making my own but they didn't turn out well, wrong type of toothpaste I think

Could you not put a dozen on baking paper in a very, very slow oven?
This is one of those occasions I feel a wee tube is warranted or the DIY version, I say this as an avid (perhaps manic, imagining a level of twitching ) ultralighter.

Interesting - I'd not seen those tabs before. The translation on the description needs a bit of work mind! My mate just squeezes a bit of toothpaste into some foil. And I've been known to pop some into a re-used balm tub.

My gf works at lush, they have a product called toothy tabs in peppermint spearmint charcoal or lime. 6 or 7 quid for a hundred tabs.

Another option is the small travel toothpaste tubes, they're usually around 15ml and weight around 25g

I usually put my nearly empty ones to one side for hiking

The 2 small round screw top tubs on the right are ideal for toothpaste. Works for us..
£1 for the lot in Primarni.

Toothpowder is available at many health/organic type stores. Decanted into a 5ml jar is plenty for a trip. I got some of the lush toothy tabs recently. They’re easy but end up a fair bit bulkier. Either is fine, not really motivated by weight savings but small volume (i haven’t really seen travel sized toothpaste in local shops) + thé fear of squeezing toothpaste all through my bag (again).

I had a stash of tiny wee tubes of Colgate which I managed to blag off a very nice air stewardess on a flight to China once, back on the travel size tubes now from Asda.

Dentists here have them and give them away. Samples. Check your local fang doctor. Get a few and just keep refilling.

If you know someone who frequents hotels (business travel ??) - see if they can blag the wee toothpaste tubes that are provided gratis :).

You could injure yourself to the point you get kept in hospital for a few days too, I got a little sanitary pack each morning and pocketed the tubes for a few days :frown:
Been using them for over a year now...

In extremis ( having hypothetically left the dinky refillable tube at the last washroom )
I have cut a 3" corner from a food grade poly bag, and filled it with 'borrowed' toothpaste.

Then rolled down the hypotenuse, reef knotted the ends, neckerchief style, and put that little package within a bank change bag* or similar.

Thorough toothbrushing, whilst enjoying a spectacular view, is one of trail lifes simple pleasures.

* I find them good for transporting solid soap, and all sorts of other things too.. Gives enough containment, but allows air in to prevent sogginess.

I use a tiny little plastic pot with a screwlid (the old version contact lens container) for toothpaste, you just dip the brush into it. Only (roughly) take what you need. Can be easily refilled. I also use these pots for suncream etc.
