What have you bought?

I might feel a tiny bit guilty passing my barbers post-lockdown as I've pretty much decided I'm gonna carry on doing my own. The poor buggers there are gonna need the money and I bet I'm not the only one that will walk on by.

Ah, but will your electric home clippers give you marriage counselling/ask you about your holidays/talk to you about football/offer you something for the weekend?

It offers bored couples chance to partake in some interesting roll-play ;)

Nice jacket that!
Well, I really like mine anyway.

Mine arrived this morning ... and it’ll be going back tomorrow ☹️

So disappointed with the overall fit and the hood. Am a 44inch chest so thought their trim fit and sizing charts would necessitate an xl but it’s far too baggy, the arms are too long and I could not get on with the loose hood. The large peaks at 43inches so once again I’m between sizes ... oh well... back to the drawing board so to speak.

I went for medium, after carefully reading sizing. Typically I am borderline M/L. It is very much a trim/athletic fit for me.

Maybe having tried an XL and found it too large you could considered ignoring the numbers and trying an L.

Mine's an L. I love the perfect, close fit and the hood is hands down the best of any jacket I've had. And the breathability is excellent. YMMV. ;)

4.5kg of organic broccoli seeds for sprouts. As soon as I learnt Italy was main source I decided to buy a years supply. Better safe than sorry. :)

Takes up a lot less space than a years supply of loo rolls.

My thoughts also. I should have ordered both and returned one. Unfortunately the large are all back at full price. (Managed to get it when reduced by 40%) So I’ll wait until I can physically get into a shop to try the range.

Yes, ‘horses for courses’ and all that.

Where ? - I usually buy flour in bilk - I'm running lowish and my usual suppliers were all (3 of them) closed due to folks over ordering …..
A butcher friend. He uses it to make pork pie crusts. He dropped 1kg in tonight and we are going to use one of our last sachets of yeast to try it. He says if we don't like it he'll get me a different one by Friday. The sour dough starter should be here later in the week and I'll have to grow it on. If you have a friend in any kind of catering ask them if their supplier can let them have a bag. Apparently the catering wholesalers have 16 and 25kg bags. There's plenty of flour around just not many 1.5kg packing lines.

We went to a bakers suppliers a couple of weeks ago and bought 10kg of strong white and plain, plus a bag of yeast which will probably last 200 years at 5g a time.

Each loaf I make is getting better each time, the trick seems to be plenty of knocking back and a final prove

Those big bags of yeast seem to "go off" after about a year. That's why we changed to sachets. If you keep it in an air tight container you might keep it OK for longer. Probably cheap enough to just chuck out and buy another if it stops rising as quickly as you're used to.

I usually get 2 x 16kg / order. I'll have a think about possible contacts in the "food trade".
A lady over the road uses sour dough so I can ask her for a starter but I'm not short on yeast.
Thanks.

A bit route 1, but having missed a sea/summit pad sale by prevaricating too long, I acquired an xlite large from banana fingers in Bristol.
No lighter than my multimat/radiator backing combo, but wider, more comfortable and more stable. This is what being old looks like.
£100, which is cheap enough to swallow, but not enough for the bargains thread!
