Of course once you suck the profits away from the originators you'll be left with ****-all in terms of product development....but hey, a buck saved.....

I agree @edh . Don't think anyone can accuse me of not royally supporting UL cottage companies though :greedy:

Know what you're saying Ed, but i'm not convinced it work in practice.

For folks that are looking for a tent for a festival or a night out car camping with mates i recon the cheapo ripoff's aren't a bad choice.
How many on here would choose one over a tent or tarp from a reputable manufacturer though?

Any of us could camp out in any old tent and it'd still likely do the job, that fact that many of us choose to spend hundreds of quid on a tent isn't going to change just because they're cheaper ones that look similar.

To be honest, I don't think the markets overlap that much. I have a Naturehike Cloud Up 2 and a 3F UL Gear Pyramid for different uses but I'm not enough of a gram weenie or an intensive hiker to justify buying a Big Agnes or MLD Duomid at full price.

So I'm happy with somewhat inferior equipment that allows me to lighten my load and get more enjoyment of the big outdoors. And who knows, at one point I may decide to break the piggy and buy the high-ticket originals to save even more weight and have better quality. But I'll do that because I tried a lower price option to see if it suits me first.

I think I would rather have Zpacks Duplex .Very similar. Well established and you know what you are getting.

Footprint won't stop Scottish bog/rain from flooding/pooling on top and then water coming up thru' the ground sheet.

It looks nice, but a 10D-floor... I'd be worried.

I always thought 30D was more or less the 'limit' for floors.

I have one of the original 'GG The One' tents. Needs a small repair around the apex, but I'll be putting it up for sale soon once that's done. The spinnaker fabric that's made from looks a bit more robust than this translucent beauty.
