Reusable water bottles

Right so I love smartwater bottles. But im done with accumulating them. They last me maybe 2 weeks to a month before they start looking and tasting suspicious.

So im looking for the next best option. I dont like nalgenes because they are wide and dont fit in side pockets, I use some for winter camping but for the rest of the year I would want something narrow, and while reusable, best weight possible.

Any ideas?

Well, I always use an 850ml Smartwater bottle (since April now) plus a 1L Platypus. Not sure it's better or worse than any other reusable water bottle, but I like to be able to fold it up to the minimum size and stuff it out of the way when I don't need it, which is handy. Both work fine for me. I'm sure others will have more enlightening suggestions.

Actiph 1l bottles got a mention on here a while ago, flat bottomed, sewyer thread, smartwater type shape. I have one but not used yet.

I haven't used out in the wild either, but Actiph and Arlo were available in 1l size so I got some. I Also got smaller Actiph bottle as it had the sports cap. Arlo was softer and flimsier compared to Actiph. Actiph and Smart were about equal quality/strength, even though Smart bottle was 850ml vs Actiph 1l.

One thing to notice is that Smart caps are different size to Actiph and Arlo, but Actiph and Arlo are standard, so I used Actiph's smaller bottle's sports cap and put in on the 1l one and weighed them for your viewing please because I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to things... All measured with sports caps.

I occasionally sterilise my Smart water bottles at home using Milton. Where can you get 850ml and 1 litre Smart water from?

Those things last for years. Are you perhaps using electrolyte stuff and not washing it out later? I have two going on three years. Never washed but the mouthpiece/end with soapy dishwater.Water user only.

I always carry a Solan de Cabras bottle, 500ml for cycling, 750ml for hiking. Not managed to damage one yet. Much lighter than nalgenes too and they come in all sizes

Where do you buy them? I can only find 600ml.

Asda and Tesco sell them Phil

I've been using the Actiph bottle recently, seems okay

I wash my bottle and bladder out after a trip then drop a Milton tablet in and leave over night, dry on the radiator and then put away with the caps off

Isnt the same as the smartwater ones though? As in reusable but not officially?

I use the sports caps off the water bottles pret do. The smartwater 850 don't have a sewyer compatible thread so I use the 600s. Someone on here suggested lucosade 1l, which come in two thread and I like, but the smartwater shape is shorter which I also like. I generally keep the bottles for clean water so no need to sterilise, bladders I put a drop of bleach in and top up with water overnight. Nice to have the option of using the bottles to filter, though it shortens their life.

I use a variety of water bottles, from army canteens to soda (Coke) bottles, all plastic, plus a couple of metal ones. The main requirement is that they not leak. The second requirement is that they fit in certain spaces, which differ from pack to pack. The smallest one I use holds about a cup, the largest about a quart, I think. I also have a water bag but I haven't used it for quite a while. I've never noticed any plastic taste but my tastes may be unrefined. Most get used fairly regularly, though not necessarily when out hiking.
