Some nice dark reds in that lot. Seeing pictures of flooding already.

I was planning an overnighter in Snowdonia. Instead at home with a glass of port and just put up the Christmas tree.

90+mph winds I had last night from 6pm-6am in the Dales with my Akto. That thing is rock solid!! Was still pretty scary though. Had to keep looking out and checking on friends as they were in a sil-minipeak and Hexpeak. They survived, barely.

Looks dire in the Lake District. Worse than 2009

That's not good to hear Robin. :(

Feared as much. I hope the warnings were heeded more this time.

That's some going Adz! You Gixxed up.

Nothing ripped on the other shelters?

Was supposed to be going up to Ambleside this weekend but got a call last night saying the trip's off. Looking at the news I can see why, there is a lot more water up that way than there should be. :(

No as far as I know bud. They both stood up. My mate in my minipeak said the pole came down at one point though. Will check it over later to see if there has been any damage to struts etc.

I was bricking it in my Akto so can not image what they were going through. I kept poking head out to check on them and they were taking a battering poor sods. Both shelters were still stood up though.

All tents were using Groundhogs and Alpkit clones as pegs :)

That's quite impressive, shows the benefits of using Nylon for an outer. :)

Don't blame you for bricking it one bit, anything over 60mph is testing.

I bet you won't camp there again in those conditions. Lol.

No bloody way lol. It's a lovely spot/area in Summer but bloody scary popping head out at 8am to find you're on a small Island that is shrinking by the minute :(

Indeed. Got tested to limit. I never plan on going out in those conditions again. Will be double checking wind reports before I go out on next one. I'm glad it happened though as it was a good test and has shown me just how much it can take. Will be much less paranoid about pole snapping or tent taking off without me during night lol.

I have also got to hand it to the Groundhogs and Alpkit clones though as they also kept in solid and did not budge, regardless of ground been sodden and winds hammering shelters

We've hardly had a drop of rain here today, unless we get a monsoon over night I think we've dodged it

Thoughts with those affected. Looks very serious and worse than forecast.

I've often walked passed the wall built along Fitz park and the glass screens above the wall near the old Pencil factory and thought they didnt look big enough but assumed 'they' would know best....

There was something on the local news recently where people in a flood area were complaining their insurance premiums hadn't gone down after new flood defences were built. The reply from the insurers was the new defences dont prove anything until they've been tested.

    :(
