A good entry level Gps Nav watch.

Spent a while sorting it out and updating, impressed with the condition, coming from a fit bit, feels large on the wrist.

I bought a fenix 6 pro new off Amazon for £300 a few years ago and replaced it last Christmas with an epix 2 for...320.
I think both were from h. Samuel.

Not tried 3rd party maps, and not a massive fan of the maps on Garmin. The epix is a good upgrade re mapping as the amoled screen has touch screen so it's easy to scroll around a map, the 6 is a pita having to change settings to scroll up/down or left right zoom etc. the full colour screen is a pleasure too.

The battery life is still ~2 weeks with gesture mode on the screen and touch screen turned off. That's logging 30-40 miles of running a week.
For occasional use I'd get the bigger size fenix for the battery life. Epix is just one size I think.

I had a huge Casio before Garmin, colour touch screen and it ran viewranger with os maps, that was way better than any Garmin for nav for me. But very short battery life and huge. And they killed viewranger 😔

So ive had the watch on my arm for a while and im unsure, its a bit of a beast

Esp when you're used to a fit bit and never worn a watch before

Im now tempted to look at the forerunner, i think they are smaller, i only wanted it to use for mapping, saving getting my phone out all the time.

That does look on the large side.
I struggle with some clothing with my 47mm . That looks like there's some battles ahead 🤔

I watch alot of these before going 6 sapphire

Went sapphire for better blacks and also the anti scratch

Went 6 as middle of the rd, it also has a largr battery vs the s nearly double on normal use and 36hrs gps vs 25gps of the s

They do a 6s sapphire which isn't that common on ebay

They are however only 1mm difference in depth...

I was looking at the forerunner 945 but seems again same depth

Ill give it today on the wrist,

I dont want to have two watches as in the Fitbit for 99% of use then the garmin for walks, its two lots of data points

Ive noticed that the Garmin watch is constantly accessing my phone

Would you happen to know what watch face that is on the Garmin?

Toggle the connection to off until you want it to sync ,if you don't want it working as a smart watch .
There was a glitch message that used to crop up for a lot of uses ,Eg Garmin is draining battery message ,
There's a simple work around to stop the message reoccurring .
You can use the garmin ,with no internet/phone connection to create a route on the fly to get you to a chosen way point, landmark, feature etc

It can be fun to let.it direct you and discover new paths etc.

I used a fenix 3 to help me navigate Scarborough once . It was easier than asking and remembering directions.

That's something I noticed with my 7 pro solar , about the duller screen.
It's duller than my 6 pro solar .
I've become accustomed to it. I'm not looking at it like a TV ,so I can live happily with it. As a daily driver aswell as nav tool ,it's leaps ahead of the 6 and still happy I made the switch.
