had a play yesterday with Rig7 tarp as hammock tarp option...obviously at 2.8m its to short as A frame tarp but I reckon if pitched diagonaly should provide enough coverage from above... 20180610_183417.jpg
also didnt like the fixed rigde line as there's so many cordage things get fussy...or is it me...the impatient one

You could try it like an Asym type tarp. Use the tieouts (one in from the corner) on the short sides as the RL tieouts to get a bit of extra length

Yeah, the diagonal on a 2.4 x 2.8m will give you a ridgeline of 3.68m (12'1"), which is plenty for a 11' hammock, but I'd avoid blowing rain.
On the semi-diagonal, you'd get get a ridgeline of 3.046m (119"), be OK for a hammock up to 10' long.

As to the cordage issue, you could use a separate (continuous) ridgeline with a two prusiks with which to attach the tarp. That can be stored hanked up separate to the tarp.
I use end tie-outs, but then I have the luxury of snake skins, with pockets for the tie-outs.
Making up cordage with a figure of eight hank is a good skill to cultivate.
