Aonijie Soft Bottle and drinking straws

I bought one of these 600ml softbottles with straw - they're on Ali but come faster from Ebay

I also bought the separate drinking straw

Unusually, the lids are different widths - the separate straw is a fit option for the soft sports bottle.

The straw with the wide lide has an internal diameter approx. 47mm - its smaller than a Nalgene or Camelbak wide bottle.

The separate straw has a lid internal diameter about 31mm - it fits a Nexba 1ltr bottle and the Smartwater 600ml Still fits and is water tight but slightly bent. It didnt fit a 600ml Evian.

I bought them to use a straw to fit a 500-700ml PET bottle - i dont trust the soft bottle supplied, it might be okay, but anyway i would prefer something more solid for my bottle pouch.

These are a fair bit cheaper than the likes from Montane and Osprey, can anyone suggest what bottles they might fit before I waste £20 trying out numerous supermarket water bottles :)

I have that brand of soft bottle and also their bladder. However much I washed them they taste very strongly of chemicals. Last jaunt in the beacons made my water undrinkable. Hope you have better luck!

This one is absolutely fine, no chemical taste at all.

I really bought them for the straws though, to work with a compatible 500ml Pet bottle if one exists...

Wasn't too hard in the end, just a standard Pet bottle top (the same size as the whats on top of a 2l fizzy pop bottle)...

A lot of the sports drinks and bottled water are slightly bigger.

Same bad taste with mine, even tainted red wine, shame as there very robust and take no room when empty

The 600ml bottle and straw look like a knock-off of the ones that come with Raidlight running packs - except the Raidlight ones are made of a decent grade of TPU - no tase whatever from the ones I have.

They are 3 times the price if you buy them separately tough.

Is the straw a filter or does it just act as a bite valve and mean you don't have to lift your arm as high?

They are intended to be used in the bottle pockets on the shoulder straps of a running pack.

The straw is just a tube to get the bite valve to a position where you can reach it comfortably while on the move. There's no filter. And the bite valve is on a push-pull cut-off valve to stop you accidentally pushing all the liquid out.

The idea is that you grip the bite-valve with your teeth, pull it up to open the cutoff valve, then squeeze the bottle and suck. You can just suck if the bottle is full, but it's easier to squeeze and suck.
It's easier than it sounds, certainly easier than using the bottles on the Ultimate Direction packs which have no straw so you really have to crane your neck to reach them.

You cut the straw and/or stiffening sleeve to suit yourself.

The Raidlight bottles sold separately to the packs come with a second valve that fits directly onto the bottle cap like the valve on the UD bottles. In this case you just bite the valve and squeeze the bottle - no need to do any lifting. That's the whole point of the soft bottles. Putting the bite valve on a rigid bottle misses the point.

okay cheers. This bottle seems absolutely fine but i only bought them for the straws.

Still looking for a bottle that will fit the wider straw, no rush now i've found one for the other one.
