Clew UQ suspension

Has anyone experimented with or uses clew suspension for UQ?
I searched and only found Gadget's Costco Gemini UQ post. I found the clew info when researching suspension options for an Ice Flame ul quilt UQ conversion. My prototype is super comfy (and a lot less fiddly to use than conventional alternatives I tried) but I thought I'd better check our trek-lite "encyclopedia" before I continue.
This is the test rig:

I sewed some grosgrain loops on to my quilt, ran elastic along the sides and used those as suspension and to hold it diagonally beneath me

It’s a new one on me. There’s a couple of threads regarding this over on hammock forums which sorta led me to someone making synthetic ones.

Is it purely a weight saving thing for you @tom ? I ask as I know some folk on here use underquilts with secondary suspension; like the ones from Hammock Gear. The secondary bit snugs it up a bit to stop the “concertina effect”. I’ve seen this concept retro fitted @Shewie maybe on both counts?🤔

Mine didn’t come with any but I found a solution in the form of some little clips ( can’t find them of the Dutchware website ) iirc they aren’t actually meant for what I use them for but essentially they are Ultralite clothes pegs 😂
That elimates a couple of metres bungee cord.
From my brief look on HF it seems a bit like the Warbonnet wookie in a way.

Personally I’d probably just sew it up so it has channels and copy my method. Air pockets are good, this clew looks flawed though.
I’m in a conversation with Dutchware, so shall enquire regardless.

@Tartanferret - I hadn't seen the apex clew suspension UQ yet. I found this info https://leiavoia.net/pages/hammock/levquilt.html when I looked for options to suspend a 340gr ice flame down quilt and decided to try. IMO more comfortable than other UQs I tried since the clew suspension doesn't constrict the hammock in any way. It feels like a hammock without UQ but the UQ stays snug with the hammock.

The bungee cords can get tangled if not careful but still less fluff than the common method IMO. The down quilt is about weight and pack-space saving. I'm aiming for an entire rig (hammock, tarp, suspension, UQ + UQ proyection) at approx 1100 gram and comfy for 0 celsius (I'm also making an UQ protector from argon 90 for layering when needed). I started with 1.5mm high quality bungee cord which gets me the right amount of tension I think and plan to sew grosgrain loops when I'm ready. These clips is what I use for testing:
