Snagged one. The only (hoodless was my goal) things (packabilty/warmth) I could find to match it -The Berger Hypertherm looked okay-out of stock. The OMM Rotor-heavier, not as warm and more expensive. The Nunatak JMT -well, 4 month wait far more expensive-same Apex tho' and I reckon as packable. EE Torrid jacket not quite as warm (but more packable and a wee bit lighter) and far more expensive.
Tried to make a Arteryx Atom SL that I have work, but it's no-where near warm enough and too breezy for my static needs.
Should be sent in a few days. Ta to all for all the info on Cumulus quality which I read about all over the forum.
I hope this is quite packable which is my only mild concern, I know it will be warm as I have something using this level of Apex already.
Can't wait to hear how you get on with it...
I've been hankering after buying an Atom SL for a few months now. Just couldn't justify another garment pre Norway and now I'm still out of work, highly unlikely for a while yet.
I tried one on and fell in love with the feel and cut.

Bit of an update. Further to above.
Packed pretty tightly, not babying it now, just push it in to all the nooks and crannies at the top of the rucksack, always inside out-trying to preserve the outer DWR and let the dampness (sometimes arm pits) escape in the rucksack, and used about 25 times.
Always put on with my clothes damp, especially arm pits as an added warmth layer when stopped usually.
Quite glossy at the outset -but has settled to a very light sheen. Used walking a few times at about 2-3 degrees when the wind jumped to 30-35 knots. Macpac Nitro and Rab Pulse hoody under for reference.
Too warm when the wind dropped.
No visible decrease in loft, all seams etc as good as new. Creases fall out quickly.
Had to lightly sponge (no soap) just the arm pits the other day, the fabric got a bit (salty I suppose) stiff-but only on the inside.
Soft again immediately.
No smell tho'-got my daughter to confirm. Will not wash it I reckon until a persistent smell or noticeable loss of loft.
Still highly water resistant at this early stage. Sat in rain the other day rain beading very nicely.
Quite a bit warmer than a 280 gm/m fleece.
Say equivalent to a 280gm/m fleece plus a non breathable windshirt/raincoat.
Packs as above.
Sorry to reassure t the post but I’m looking at a cumulus Incredilte endurance and I’m normally a small to medium. Looking to use it over a merino layer in camp near summits. They only have a medium in stock and no large . I’m a slight build 40 inch chest and 30 waist. I’m your experience so far, would their medium suffice? I’m small in all arcteryx but medium in mountain equipment.

I'm ~38" chest & have the medium, with base layer & fleece it's roomy enough to pull over head with zipper half done up.

Just got the Mrs to measure me with my T-shirt and light sweater and it’s 96.5 cm.
Yay. I’ve shrunk in 12 months. Must be all those mountains I end up on.can eat more pies now.
Guess this my bode well for the medium now?

It’s 38inches yeah. If their range is like others, I’m guessing that different garments have a slightly different cut in their sizes that may affect which I need. Gonna fire them an email off

@Cranston A year on how are you getting on with your Climalite Pullover. I'm thinking about one as a layer for stops and sleeping in on really cold nights.

I have Arcteryx LT hoody which is a tad too heavy and not quite warm enough and a Decathlon down hoody that I worry about getting wet. The Climalite pullover sounds like it may be the best compromise in terms of weight, warmth and less need to worry about it getting wet.

Don't Cumulus occasionally have a sale?

Happy to answer any specific qs and post some pics if you want. Mathjis has one as well from memory?
Cranston Thanks for coming back to me.

I wouldn't plan to wear it on the move. I'm usually too hot in a Rab pulse T-shirt when moving but get cold sitting around. I'm looking for a synthetic jacket that is very lightweight, small pack size and reliable as a stops and camp puffy for Scottish and Lakes conditions. I guess that I'm saying I have my doubts about what I have and wonder what you think to it for my suggested use.

I was bored earlier and happened upon a Darwin Youtube video where he was extolling the virtues of an EE Torrid Apex hoodie. So I searched for information about it and found my way back here. I think you said earlier that you have both the Cumulus pullover and the EE Torrid so I'f my memory is correct, I'd be interested to hear your comparison of the two of them and whic you think might suit me best for the use stated above.

Thanks again

Don't own a Torrid jacket sorry.

No worries. I own a Nunatak Skaha Hoody which has 100gm/m in the body and the 70gm/m (same as in the Climalite- but all over the jacket) in the arms.
I use that out walking overnight for weather around zero. Different level of warmth. Don't own a Torrid jacket sorry. But I think the diffs would be in favour of the Cumulus. The weights on the Apex if they are correct, are in favour of the Cumulus. I reckon without the full zip and I believe it is 15D shell this would be a tad warmer and tougher. They offer 10D max in the shell. The weights are almost identical. Love jumpers/jackets with a half zip so a full zip wasn't wanted. It will pack easily into its chest pocket (about a litre?)but I have never done that. I just pile it a bit looser in a bread bag in the ruckie. Then that sort of squashes out in the wee ruckie. I do also own a Cumulus Primelite?
I'm not sure what temps you are thinking of using it. That's really all I go on when choosing what to wear. Americans youtubers I think pretty much talk three (summerish 'hiking season' for them) season-which I take to mean about 6-8 degrees plus weather almost all the time. If this is what you want to cover you would be more than fine. Chuck a raincoat over if needed and thin UL windpants over your shorts. What temps minimum are you thinking?
I'm coming at this from a different angle. I have 300 grams to spend and want to find the best bang per buck synthetic jacket I can for that weight allowance.

@Cranston can you please give us your thoughts on the differences between primelite and climalite?
Is the primelight significantly warmer and also significantly smaller when packed? I am mostly looking for a jacket worn only when I stop walking and primelight is at the top of my list currently but I like the idea of not having to worry about getting the jacket wet/damp so if they are comparably warm and small, climalite would be great.
Thanks!
