progress! Main ridge I went for a 30mm deflected catinary and rolled/taped seam. My first go at sewing a shelter fly zip. Went well I think, needs taping still.
Thanks! Just one vestibule to cut and bond and the tie outs to sew. Hope to finish it this afternoon .
Ran out of glue! Got some ordered for Saturday, only three patches left to bond. Did a cutting plan, which suggests it can be made from 5.6m of cuben. So far all the bits in a bag weigh just over 270g. Still needs hemming once reinforcement patches are done, tape or sew... Sewing would be lighter, and tramplite does it, but taping is easier...
Yes and no. It's up in the garden ATM, but I want to make some changes, going to add cat cuts, not tort enough for my liking. Thinking of using sewn seams too, not convinced they are stronger at least on 0.5 but think the cat cuts will look better sewn. Messes up all my bonded reinforcements sadly. I'll call this version 1 Sadly all the cheaper cuben is sold out.
Size, yes Design, not sure how I feel re two pole design in a 1p shelter, seems a potential faff to pitch compared to 1p. I'd drop the zip down 4", but I like the option to have the front low or higher, got used to seeing out with my 3/4 beak tramp.
How about a buckle at the height of the 3/4 beak, one of Paul's slangers on the pole and hook the bottom of the door up to it when you want the view? I've set this up on the Dirigo (so the doors can be partly open in the rain).
I've got beastyD's at the bottom of the door panels and at the bottom of zip and short lengths of shockcord sewn to the inner zip cloth higher up with hooks so I can hook the bottom d rings up when the zpacks hooks are attached to the zip d rings. Showing off my amazing photography skillz lol!
I had a delivery from them this week, it arrived 6 days after ordering with them via Fedex. I've been ordering as normal through the pandemic, some have taken longer than other orders but they have all arrived.
Yeh, I have not seen anything. I have been chatting with them over the last few days about restocking lead times and a few other things and no-one has mentioned anything in the replies :|
I am a newbee at sticking fabric together so I am confused as to how you have bonded two panels together without stitching? I gather you use some kind of tape, but what sort of tape is it? Is it self adhesive, or do you need to apply a glue to it?
The transfer tape for DCF/Cuben has extremely high bonding strength, most manufacturers making cuben shelters use the tape alone. Venture tape is one of the more popular tapes but there are a few variations.
