Get some PHDs and be done with it :)

Chunky calfs (sp?) shouldn't make much difference as they're not that high

Agree or the WM ones, the fireball footies with 40g PL are too light imo.

I think the WM look Cranberry :inlove:....but PHD probably the easy recourse...

Since WM and FF have been brought up I have to say I am really happy with my overstuffed ones from FF. If contemplating purchasing from the USA look at Goosefeet Gear
As they are another good choice. Have them ship to me and I will send to you if that helps. Glad to do it.

The ones I use I got 2nd hand (OM), and with no label my best guess is they are from "Goosefeetgear".
A whole load lighter than PHD Minimus (-hence them being 'unused':rolleyes:).

The Ggg ones are 3/4 season IMHO - good for warmth in bed and tent without 'overdoing' it. The PHD ones are what I'd consider for snowy/subzero conditions.
I know you want these expeditiously, but if you can I'd maybe 'make do' this trip and get a pair of the Ggg ones for the future.:)

Thanks Ken; I might well take you up on that..Cranberry with drawcord fastening...what is not to like.

The WM ones look very pretty.

My Ggg ones don't have any foam sole - they are just a 'sock' shape. Mine s/m weight about 75g.

They do; I prefer a drawcord if a bit of a 'thing' about elastic cuffs....which is totally irrational; nevertheless....

NB. the weights I quoted were after I boosted the fill a wee bit……think they were about 56g (from memory :o o:) before.
The cuffs on mine are elasticated drawstring :).

I think comes down to design and weight. Do you want to sleep in something with a EV50 foam sole built in ? :o o::unsure:.

    For future info. :-
I just got mine (PHD Minimus) out to check over - they are labelled size small.
I take a size EU 40 and have a full spare 1" of space at the toes :o o::wideyed::wacky:.
Probably still not big enough for you @edh - but suggests they are generally cut quite big.

My wife likes her Gossefeetgear down socks. I don't remember what size she has (small probably). They weigh 52 grams. We probably bought them from Zpacks.

I got a bit exited about the Terra nova booties and was going to get some but they won' fit my big plates.

    Hi Neil
Sorry for the delay in responding.

This is a discontinued product and there are only a handful of the size L/XL left.

The information I have managed to find is below, hope this helps.

    The sizing is aprox 9-11

    The weight is aprox 200g

    900 fill power down

I use Western Mountaineering booties and Western Mountaineering trousers - ridiculously toasty arround camp - with a down hoody too it's surpising how lightweight a bag you can take during the depths of winter - saves one having to get straight under the covers as soon as your in your shelter - Booties have made camp life much more fun - nothing beats a winter camp when the freeze takes away the damp - A down enthusiasts nirvana !

Do you get into your bag with your booties on? What's the Ev50 sole like?
  21. Noltae

    Noltae Summit Camper

The soles are flimsy looking hence why I consign usage mainly to insde shelter - I do get inside sleeping bag with them on - Doesn't take long before feet start to boil though.

Expeds arrived today; they are very lofty.
    Nicely made.
The captive cordlocks are a mistake IMO.
Hanging loop at back of each.
I will probably strip out an internal (threaded so no skills required) button adjusted ankle elastic tape.
They are 134 (the pair in L) with the elastic.

    Photo opportunity indeed el :finger:

If down boots are a bit overkill for your needs the Dickies store do a `Bama' fleece boot sock for £11.50 :)

I ordered the Aegismax L about a month ago, they were too small for me, I am a 10-11 UK and they were a little tight with socks on. I gave those to my mum and ordered the XL when I noticed them on Ali. They arrived today, 9 days after delivery and first impressions very good. Good size, quality feel and loft up nicely.

Boots Large inc stuff sack were 73g inc stuck sack, Extra Large come in at 83g inc stuff sack

The hood is massive but once cinched in is actually a nice fit with mouth/nose opening.

Boots on left, hood on right

Another option, they also have some down slippers and down troos which I hadn’t seen until recently
