It’s that time of year again when you get to list your favourite purchases of the last twelve months, anything that’s been a hit or even a total miss, let us know.

I tried to be a good boy this year and not splurge on so much kit, it was going fairly well until we got into autumn and I weakened, i.e TAR Uberlite and Lanshan 1 Pro. I’ve been really pleased with the Uberlite but I’ve only done 3 trips with it so far, the Lanshan is still in the bag and probably won’t make an appearance until the midges are back out.

So what you bought, any game changers?

Macpac nitro. I wear it all the time although have taken it off now in case I wear it out. I want it to be good for next summer.

Locus gear CP3s. So light and lovely and I do like the clamp fixings in place of twist and tighten.

Didn't buy much, Atom Packs Mo the only major thing, and it's ace.

Nike Wildhorse 5 pretty good too, but the grip isn't as good as it could be.

not much of a hint. I now have so many tents that I’m none the wiser.

i was hoping he’d bought an Aeon.

well. Since he already publicly owns my other tents that leaves only one, which in no way can be described as small. So not only annoying secrecy but gross misrepresentation, Ed! So much for academic rigour!

Those SiS Hydro Tablets which you add to water to make an electrolyte drink. No idea if they have any intrinsic benefit but they taste nice and make me want to hydrate more (the pink grapefruit flavour is lush).

Sawyer Micro - an appreciable step up from the Mini.

Fenix HM50R Head Torch - just a lovely bit of kit - at 80g however, will probably get pushed out by my recently arrived Nitecore NU25.

Opinel No 7 Trekking - a really good proper all-purpose knife at 35g.

Columbia Titanium Outdry Extreme Featherweight Jacket (235g in my size) - big weight reduction over my previous waterproof even though I dislike the colour. Plus another mention for my 2018 purchase of Berghaus Paclite GTX Overtrousers - simply brilliant.

Annual Permit from the Cambrian Angling Association - £60 contributes to upkeep and buys permission to fly-fish a large swathe of Snowdonia for my dinner.

Not bought a huge amount (I think).

    Like:
    • OMM waist pack (3L)
    • Salomon ultra trek trail shoes (this year? Maybe)
    • Simmer ring for stove, small but very useful.
    • Rab photon jacket (performed well in 6 hours of terrible weather)
    • Exped downmat 5 (pretty comfy but needed lots of silicon dots)
    • ME classic 750 down bag (again, preloved, coz I like it)
    • Cheap buffs in various bright colours and patterens (soo useful for many things)
    • Rab powerstretch leggings (warm, comfy)
    • Rab waterproof pants (fairly light, kept me dry)
Other things haven't been used yet or much such as trekkertent bathtub, osprey kestrel rucksack, montane prism pants, sub-zero fleecy liner, ti pans, wood stove...

They're all game changers for me, in terms of overall weight, usability, longevity, adaptability etc.
Lighter more functionality and trail efficiency are my ideals... I'm happy hapoy happy :whistling:
Fastpacking is where its at for me.... Or at least the ability to fastpack when I desire
