Have you ever been allergic to certain fibres? The wife once had a mild reaction to some bridgedale socks, but only from the cuff.... I'm still in awe of that picture. Never seen sores as bad on feet!!!

Nope, Arnica tablets make me feel sick, otherwise no reaction to anything. I thought at first I had sand in them, (before the sores) so I washed everything, and there wasn't any sand anyway. It got worse and I thought it might have been the shoes, but I've had the same model for a couple of years and the exact shoes on plenty beforehand. Eventually I turned the socks inside out to properly inspect and yeah, the toe seam is precisely over all the damage. Changed my socks and all good (well, it felt a little better anyway).

The montane prism trousers I bought not long ago: I bought them for tent use and sleeping in when quite cold, but ended up wearing them all day on my last trip.
Verdict: fit quite well (not baggy or restrictive), kept me dry (drizzle, miles of bog), kept me warm, didnt make me sweat, fit over boots. So yeah happy with them for winter walking or sleeping in (was actually too warm the one night, unheard of!).

Gramexpert groundsheet; does the job, weighs little.

For those interested: Vango Apex 200 tent (£20 preloved):

Pros: pitches quickly, great in windy weather, big vents work well, lots of space for one, 4 inner pockets, good size porch.

Cons: flaps (crazy rustling) in windy weather, naff little hooks on the corners (replaced with shockcord and mini carabiners which also help stretch the outer a bit more), bit tight for me + dog (but okay in good weather), not enough rear guys (new models have those), inner a bit loose, possible a little heavy (1.6).

I am inpressed with this little tent, the way it handled the wind was really good, and so easy to pitch when you know how. Just needs a few little mods. The flapping is a pain, but its such an old tent that maybe the material is not as good as it was or could be by today's standards.

Funnily I spent more on shockcord, extra guys, mini clips etc than on the tent.

@craige Ouch!
