Hello!

I must start with a confession. I'm not actually a backpacker. Moreover a bikepacker.

Fortunately, I have a healthy respect for those with boots instead of wheels and have found that, in the pursuit of fantastic equipment, we have far more similarities than differences.

Most of my "touring" has been heavily laden, with comfort being the focus ahead of gram counting. However, as I get older, I realise I can spend more, weigh less, and enjoy the journey more. 2 out of three aint bad.

Anyway, I shall try and caveat experience based advice with my two wheeled shame should I ever see fit to dish it out. It seems you have a thorough and engaging forum here. I look forward to getting stuck in!

Cheers!

I fear that the difference between a bikepacker and an aspiring bikepacker, as with many things, is confidence and not competence!

You havent lived until you have just slipped off a pair of damp padded bib-shorts only to realise you have no option but to bare-arse it onto the freezing tarp beneath you before shuffling into something "a little more comfortable" for the kip. Simply delightful.
