I'm James from Bristol. I guess I'm a reasonably experienced wilderness backpacker these days. Most of my trips are solo now. I'm not averse to company, but my former regular backpacking buddy has acquired an appetite for 4000m peaks in the Alps and I'm no climber! He's also 20 years younger than me and I've reached the age where I'll probably be slowing up a bit. Most of my trips are 3-4 day jaunts in the North of Scotland but in the past I've done chunk of the HRP and some tours in the Alps, Majorca etc. I'd love to do a big thru hike one day but t'other half is understanding enough re my packpacking as it is so that may have to wait for my retirement. As I get older I'm needing to lighten my load so I'm sure I'll pick up plenty of tips here.
