Another new one!! I only joined so I could buy a As Tucas blanket at a knock down price!! But since then I've been reading and reading. So....I live in the east of the Brecon Beacons. Always been a mountain day walker, so never thought about weight before. But this year i've been walking the Beacons Way in three stages with a few others (hi if you're lurking on here too!!) carrying all our gear with overnight camps! Learned so much and loved it. Walking the last three days over a long weekend next month. So what have I learned so far from it?? .... feet... oh yes, without feet we are nothing. Pamper them, protect them and make sure your boots/shoes fit - that extra weight makes such a difference. Secondly weight. Wow... the contents of my backpack now are very different to what I carried on my first weekend - you really do learn the hard way!! The whole group of us are also very different now to the group who first set out in June. We've all learned so much and the experience has given us the confidence to really push ourselves! Currently obsessing about water purification... Looking forward to learning loads more!
