Let there be light - a thread for lights and lanterns

Been some interesting purchases recently... @paul 's Nitecore TUP springs to mind and a few others. Thought it might be worthwhile finding out what everyone else is carrying.

Winter

Zebralight H502 Flood (AA) 44g
Zebralight SC52 (AA) 55g
MYOG headband
10 x LED (USB) strip light - 10g

Summer

Nitecore NU25 (USB) - 28g
Nitecore Tube (USB) - 9g

I'm not keen on sitting in darkness so tend to have a light on as soon as one is needed. My favourite is probably the Zebralight Flood, it doesn't throw but the angle is so wide, great for lighting up camp.

I also have a tiny Olight I1R EOS and the Petzl elite is now permanently resigned to my day walking sac.

Quite similar:

For the Scottish winter the Zebralight H600W is the main headlamp + spare cell(s): ample light output & range for crossing rough/ snowed up terrain in the dark & good duration. I used to also carry a cheapo 18650 powered variable focus flashlight which is good for route spotting (longer range than the H600W) but I’ve replaced this with the Nitecore TUP which has as good range in turbo mode. I always carry a Petzl e-lite (newer model) + a couple of spare button cells. Tent lighting is a couple of Nitecore Tube lights.

In Autumn/ Spring I’ll use the NU25 for most trips (on longer trips the Zebralight H52W, as I don’t carry a power bank) + Petzl e-lite + Nitecore Tube.

Summer it’s just the Petzl e-lite.

I just carry one of those modded NU25s all year just for emergencies really. I really like the dark, (which ****es the wife off no end as I never put lights on in the hoose). 99.9% of the time, if it's dark I'm sleeping or tucked up listening to a book, never had much need to walk in the dark, always find the views at night are pretty crap

I seem to regularly spend a couple of hours walking in the dark, especially in December/ January when there's only about 7hrs daylight. Maybe the old legs are getting slower or I continue to underestimate how long travel can take in the winter...……..it can be quite nice wandering through the snow after dark...…..it certainly avoids the crowds.

I'd first get some 2 or 2.5mm shock cord, you'll struggle getting 3mm through the holes.
I've seen folks with a headband with two lengths of shock cord one at the top of the lamp and one at the bottom. I was just wondering how they got them to stay in position. Maybe they stretched 3mm in and it held itself. I was just thinking someone has probably already found a neat simple way of keeping the cords separated.

One loop of 2mm around the head with a cord lock, cord passes though the holes in the back bracket @ the bottom.
Second piece of shock cord passes through upper holes & tied off around the 'headband' (about 7-8cm back on each side) with a double fishermans, so it can be moved back & forth.
A quick google found THIS with pictures

Taht's what I was meaning, many thanks. If I'd actually taken the headband off I might have seen how obvious it is but then I might have thought is it worth it to save 19g.
