Lunar Duo Explorer vs Drift 2

Hiyall, the Duomid purchase fell through, you sure have to act fast on these niche products. However the stars have aligned and I'm into both shelters in the subject line lightly used. The Duo's reputation seems pretty established but it's silnylon and 300g heavier than the Drift 2 (albeit also roomier at least going by the specs). I'm leaning towards the Drift 2 for 1)silpoly, 2) pack size, 3) 300 g lighter. But there are not a lot of reviews. Literally only 2 YT vids. On here I read through the Trekkertent thread and found one very satisfied user and one "won't even go there" user who returned his. If you have any opinions, happy to read them, thanks so much.

I had a drift 2 and found the inner very baggy and no matter how you pitched it it did not improve and it hung really close to your face. Its a big ass tent and has a big foot print, well for me it did, plus the vestibules are huge...i had to crawl from the inner to to outer to pull the zip up! there was nothing wrong with it quality wise just wasn't for me. Also be prepared for a long wait and several deadlines passing before you get it. Sold mine on.

K:)

Thanks, @Nevis. I have been waiting for the Xmid 2P with baited breath and, well, getting apnea. The Drift is on France's version of ebay right now, Le Bon Coin, so there would be no wait, part of the appeal. It's a lot to plunk down for a tent I've never seen and read mixed reviews for.

I was the same, mixed reviews when i could find some. Decided in the end to just to carry on using the Scarp 2 for when i'm two's up with the missus and not bother with a summer two man tent. Plus means i have a all year round shelter even though it's heavier it was worth it in the end. I put the money from the Drift into the Xmid :)

I would say the Swiftline 2 but Yama stopped international sales. Have you considered the Strat2 ?

Yes, both of them. The Swiftline was my first pick, actually, love that unique blue and white look plus it is silpoly on both sides, I believe. XMid and Trekkertent are silpoly/PU. I like the look of the Stratospire but got dinged ridiculously on customs last time I ordered from the States (I'm in France). If I found a Strat2 within Europe, would def. consider it.

We have the Swiftline2 and really like it, but Customs hits hard in the UK too :/
Silpoly does reduce the weight dramatically compared to silnylon and a lot cheaper than Cuben.

Stratospire 2 is available in Europe via https://backpackinglight.dk/. Cost effectiveness versus order from the US may depend on exchange rates etc
