Yup I did give them a small talking to about it. Their loss, I like sold wood furniture, it lasts and is timeless imo. I went elsewhere and have since been told of a more local workshop in Falkirk.

That was then. My impression is that our posties are in a permanent rush.
They get to go home when they finish their round. Running upto Christmas that means a working day of 10++ hrs.

I think that the rounds people have always been better than the sorting office people. My other gripe with RM is charging £8 fee when the customs charge is £2.

We have a very good relationship with our posties who go out of their way to leave things in a safe place if we are out etc. There's nothing wrong with the individuals in RM.

Our delivery office the posties sort and deliver.

The £8 charge is plain highway robbery - nothing to do with the Unions tho'.

Try UPS. They wanted about $50 brokerage fees to bring something through Turkish customs (on top of the shipping fee). In the end, they charged me about $10 just to hand over the paperwork so that I could go to customs myself.
Considering that RM brings in packages from other postal services that charge must less in shipping than courier services (e.g. USPS 1st Class), I don't think the charge is unreasonable. I can see that it's annoying on a small value order, but customs clearance almost certainly involves paperwork and labour time for RM.
