Need some help with a tent purchase

Blah blah blah

Trail Blazer
Every night the routine starts.

Onto Ebay - various search terms and then a drawn out wade through every tent looking for that one that no one else has seen.

I'm into coffee and vintage razors but they don't come close to the time spent on walking stuff.

Thanks Taz

Can someone post the link to that tent on EBay (i can't find it...)
A bit strange that the fabric is called Kerlon 1800 because Kerlon is the brand name Hilleberg gives to the silnylon they use.
The factory that makes that fabric (in South Korea) does sell something like that (or very similar...) but as far as I know they don't call it Kerlon.

Thanks for that Shewie. maybe it did not come up in my search because of no international shipping or something like that.
I was hoping to see a better pitch for that tent....

My quest for a winter tent has led me to the purchase of the below, off Ebay.

It is a Mountain Equipment Manta 1 - some may have seen it on Ebay last week/this week.

What I know about it -

It is about 1500 g with snow pegs, curved end poles and main pole.

That it was made as a prototype that became too expensive to go into production. This may be why there is very little on the internet about it or my searches are wrongly worded.

Never seen one before but I felt there were weight reductions that could be made, it is definitely a winter tent, a reasonable price @ £175.00.

The seller couldn't tell me much about it other than that it was bought for a trip and has had virtually no use at all. Bought from where I have no idea.

Mountain Equipment were emailed yesterday for any info they had on it but wondered if the collective know anything about this tent?

What are peoples thoughts on it's design, pluses and negatives?

It's arriving early next week so other than a couple more pictures that's all I know.

Hi - do you have some pics of your own of this tent please? I've been on the lookout for this for quite some time, and must have missed this coming up on eBay. All of the links in this forum (as well as the eBay listing) are now long gone. Any and all info greatly appreciated. :)

"Kerlon 1800 fly material"
I find that comment rather interesting because Kerlon is an Hilleberg brand name for the version of silnylon they use. Something like the way Gossamer Gear call their window insulation material that they sell as a groundsheet "Polycryo" although for some reason most think it is Polycro. it's just a name but I can't see how Mountain Equipment could use that Kerlon brand name.
(I see that I am repeating myself two years later . Maybe if indeed the name Kerlon was used , that was the problem...)
