It’s usually a barrier when ‘non-planned’ instances happen, or if an organisation hasn’t got enough DBS people to meet the safeguarding policy.
It has to be a barrier really ‘Those type of people’ are devious, manipulative and very skilled at slipping through the net. Saying that, even DBS can’t detect what someone hasn’t been caught for.
Safeguarding young people has to be top of the agenda for every organisation that engages with children.
I have enhanced DBS which takes an eon to get... I pay for an update service to ensure it doesn’t lapse... otherwise it’s a pain in the whossname
